Several rockets were fired towards the Tel Aviv area, while Israel launched retaliatory air strikes, killing at least 29 people in Beirut.
Tel Aviv also announced on November 24 that it had intercepted several Hezbollah rockets. However, the attacks by the armed group still caused significant damage in many areas in Israel, including Haifa and Petah Tikva. On the same day, Israel carried out an airstrike on a military center in southern Lebanon, killing one soldier and wounding 18 others.
The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has escalated dramatically since October 2023. The Iran-backed militant group claims the attacks are in solidarity with Hamas and the Palestinians.
In response, Israel launched a large-scale airstrike in Lebanon, including an attack that killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.
According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, the conflict has so far killed more than 3,700 people and displaced about 1.2 million. Israel has also recorded the deaths of about 90 soldiers and nearly 50 civilians.
In addition, Lebanon's interim Prime Minister Najib Mikati criticized the Israeli attacks as an act of sabotage against US-led reconciliation efforts.
According to Mr. Josep Borrell, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union (EU), the EU is ready to spend 200 million Euros to support the Lebanese army in patrolling the border area.
However, Mr. Borrell also worries that Israel may be imposing new conditions that could hinder the negotiation process. According to the ceasefire agreement, both Israel and Hezbollah will have to withdraw from the area south of the Litani River, making way for the presence of the Lebanese army and the UN peacekeeping force.
Amid the intense fighting in Lebanon, the conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza continues to rage, with more than 44,000 Palestinians killed. The protracted conflict has displaced millions and increased pressure on the international community to reach a lasting peace solution.
