The Department of Technology, Digital Transformation and Automation (Department of Taxation) said that from 8:00 a.m. on March 17, 2025, the entire electronic tax system, after a period of suspension (from 5:00 p.m. on March 12 to 8:00 a.m. on March 17, 2025) to serve the upgrading and conversion of tax authority categories, has officially resumed operations.

The successful conversion and smooth, efficient operation of the system facilitate tax management and serve taxpayers.

Previously, the Tax Department issued Notice No. 41/TB-CT dated March 12, 2024 on the suspension of electronic tax systems to serve the upgrading to meet the restructuring and arrangement of tax agencies.

The Tax Department said that the suspension of electronic tax systems for upgrading and conversion is in accordance with the general plan of the Government and the Ministry of Finance after a period of restructuring and rearranging the state apparatus.

Accordingly, currently, the organizational structure of the Tax Department is implementing a model of 20 regional tax branches and 350 district-level tax teams (replacing 63 tax departments and affiliated tax branches before).

Director of the Tax Department Mai Xuan Thanh recently directed units in the entire tax sector to pay special attention to data conversion and tax management applications to ensure absolute safety, and determined that immediately after the conversion, operations will be deployed smoothly to serve people and businesses conducting transactions in the electronic tax environment.

The Tax Department stated the reason for temporarily suspending the operation of some electronic tax systems . From 5:00 p.m. on March 12 to 8:00 a.m. on March 17, the Tax Department will temporarily suspend some electronic tax systems to serve the upgrading and conversion of tax agency categories.
