Determining the seriousness of the case, the City Police Director reported to the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Public Security's professional departments.

At the same time, the deputy director and head of the Investigation Police Agency were assigned to directly go to the scene, direct the Criminal Police Department to coordinate with Gia Lam District Police and related professional units to protect and organize crime scene examination, forensic autopsy, and conduct investigation according to regulations.

Based on the investigation results and collected evidence, the police identified the victim as Ho Yen Nhi (17 years old, residing in Ba Dinh district, Hanoi).

Investigation results show that Ta Duy Khanh and the young girl Ho Yen Nhi (17 years old) have had a relationship since early 2023.

In addition to the acquaintance relationship, there is also an economic relationship. Khanh stated that he lent Ho Yen Nhi 50 million VND but Nhi has not paid it back many times.

Regarding the progress of the case, Ta Duy Khanh stated that on October 10, the suspect picked up the victim at the Giang Cao village soccer field and went out to eat together. Afterwards, both of them returned to Ta Duy Khanh's apartment in an urban area in Gia Lam district.

Here, Khanh and Nhi continued to talk about the 50 million debt, leading to a conflict. In the end, suspect Ta Duy Khanh used a fruit knife to stab Ho Yen Nhi multiple times, causing the victim to die.

After committing the crime, in order to conceal his crime, Ta Duy Khanh dragged the victim's body into the bathroom, used a knife to dismember it and put it in a styrofoam box.

After that, the suspect hired a taxi to take the styrofoam box to the Red River to dispose of the evidence and repeatedly returned to this area to conceal the crime and dispose of the victim's body.

According to the investigation, on the morning of October 13, Ta Duy Khanh continued to return to the location where the victim's body was hidden and poured cement over it.

34 hours to capture Ta Duy Khanh

According to Major General Nguyen Thanh Tung, Deputy Director of Hanoi City Police, this is an especially serious case.

Major General Nguyen Thanh Tung informed about the case.

The seriousness lies in the fact that Ta Duy Khanh, in addition to killing the victim, also dismembered the body and disposed of the evidence, making it difficult to investigate and capture the perpetrator. Therefore, Major General Nguyen Thanh Tung said that the police force mobilized hundreds of officers and soldiers to participate in capturing the perpetrator.

To quickly capture the suspect, the task force had to reconstruct relationships and make many conclusions based on scientific foundations and collected data. A task force quickly went to the apartment building where Khanh lived, but the suspect had already fled. The police continued to track Khanh in many other provinces and cities.

Major General Nguyen Thanh Tung said that the forces have searched in many localities, not just Thai Binh province.

Afterwards, the police identified Ta Duy Khanh carrying a backpack, arriving at the Nuoc Ngam bus station, boarding a bus to escape back to his hometown in Kien Xuong district (Thai Binh province). The arresting forces identified Ta Duy Khanh's hiding place as an abandoned house in the countryside, so they had to race against time to capture him.

Deputy Director of Hanoi Police Nguyen Thanh Tung said that because he knew he could not escape, the suspect had prepared a knife and hid in his house. The suspect also knew that if he was caught, he would face the highest sentence, so he had a knife ready to fight against the authorities and commit suicide.

At that time, the suspect hid under the bed, so the authorities had to ask Ta Duy Khanh's uncle to come and advise him.

As predicted, when the police appeared, the suspect used a knife to commit suicide but was prevented by criminal police officers using professional measures and taken to the emergency room in time.

Major General Nguyen Thanh Tung informed that with the simultaneous deployment of professional measures and the participation of the masses, at 11pm on October 14, after more than 34 hours of investigation, the forces arrested suspect Ta Duy Khanh.

Hanoi City Police have decided to prosecute the case and prosecute Ta Duy Khanh (38 years old, from Thai Binh) for murder.

In response to a reporter's question about whether there were accomplices in this case, Major General Nguyen Thanh Tung, Deputy Director of Hanoi City Police, said that from documents and Khanh's testimony, there has been no evidence of any accomplices.

However, the police are continuing to investigate and clarify whether there are other acts of the perpetrator.
