The number of passengers on the first high-speed train to Con Dao when it resumed operations was not large, but everyone was excited because the travel was convenient and the cost was lower than by plane.
According to the reporter's records, from early morning on February 7, when the first rays of sunlight penetrated the mist at Cau Da port (Vung Tau city, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province), hundreds of tourists were present to board the Thang Long high-speed train to Con Dao.

So after many days of waiting, the Thang Long high-speed boat has resumed operation, helping to shorten the distance from the mainland to Con Dao. It has been 5 months since this boat had to temporarily stop operating due to unfavorable weather. Therefore, the return of the boat has made people and tourists excited.
According to the records, Cau Da port became bustling with the image of hundreds of tourists carrying suitcases, handbags, and bags of goods happily boarding the ship. The laughter, the eager stories exchanged and the bright eyes of everyone created a vivid picture of the first day of spring.
Mr. Phan Hoang Anh, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City, shared: "Before Tet, we received news that the train would resume and my group of friends immediately decided to book tickets so as not to miss the opportunity to explore Con Dao in the spring. After many months of waiting, the feeling of returning on the high-speed train is really fun. We plan to stay on the island for many days, and will return next week. Traveling by train is fun, and the experience with friends is very interesting," Mr. Anh shared.
On this occasion, about 50% of the seats on the train were sold out and tourists and locals were very excited.
Similarly, Ms. Le Xuan, a tourist from Dong Nai, said that in the context of high airfares, traveling by Thang Long high-speed train is very suitable for her and many people. "This is the first time I have experienced a sea journey by high-speed train, I don't know if I will get seasick or not, but I am very excited," Ms. Xuan said.
Not only tourists, but also local people could not hide their excitement. Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, a merchant who often travels between Vung Tau and Con Dao, said that in the past few months, traveling between these two places has become difficult.
"The train running again makes it much more convenient for us to work, visit relatives and do business," said Ms. Huong.

Le Minh Tuan, a tour guide in Con Dao, said that when the boat resumes operations, the number of visitors to the island will increase significantly. This is an opportunity for the entire tourism industry to explode, helping to promote the discovery and preservation of the cultural and natural values of this peaceful land.
According to Phu Quoc Express Joint Stock Company, although only about 50% of tickets were booked on the first day, this is certainly the beginning of a new chapter.
The first train after a 5-month break has departed for Con Dao.
The ferry schedule is still maintained for the Vung Tau to Con Dao route departing at 7:30 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The Con Dao to Vung Tau route departs at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
With a distance of 185km (97 nautical miles), the Thang Long high-speed train takes about 3 hours and 30 minutes for each trip. Train ticket prices will remain unchanged compared to last year.
The Thang Long high-speed boat is over 77m long, nearly 9.5m wide, and can accommodate up to 1,017 passengers. The boat has three floors, using three of the world's most modern engines manufactured by the Roll-Royce MTU Company of the Federal Republic of Germany with a total capacity of nearly 12,000 horsepower. The boat's hull is made of aluminum alloy imported from Italy, helping the boat reach speeds of up to 32 nautical miles/hour, shortening the time from Vung Tau to Con Dao.
Having more high-speed boats carrying more than 1,000 passengers per trip will contribute to creating convenience for Con Dao residents and tourists when they need to travel from Con Dao to the mainland and vice versa.
The ticket price for the Thang Long high-speed ferry to Vung Tau - Con Dao is currently from 790,000 - 1.2 million VND/trip, depending on the class from economy class to VIP class. Tickets for children, the disabled and the elderly are from 550,000 - 760,000 VND/trip.
