Hanoi prepares the best conditions to organize the 2024 high school graduation exam

After inspecting two examination sites, Chu Van An Secondary School (Tay Ho District) and Tran Phu High School (Hoan Kiem District), the delegation had a working session at the Hanoi People's Committee. In order for the direction of the National Examination Steering Committee to be spread and thoroughly understood by each member of the City Examination Steering Committee, the working session was connected online to the bridge points of 30 districts, towns and cities. The scale of the graduation exam in Hanoi accounts for 1/10 of the whole country.

Reporting to the working delegation, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong informed: in the 2024 high school graduation exam, Hanoi continues to be the locality with the largest number of candidates registering for the exam, accounting for 1/10 of the whole country with nearly 109,000 candidates; of which the number of candidates taking the exam under the high school education program is nearly 95,000; the number of candidates taking the exam under the continuing education program is nearly 14,000; the number of independent candidates is more than 4,500.

Regarding exam subjects, the most candidates registered for math and literature exams with more than 107,200; candidates registered for natural sciences (physics, chemistry, biology) were more than 29,000; candidates registered for social sciences (history, geography, civic education) were more than 70,000 on average. Regarding foreign languages, the number of candidates registered for English exams was more than 88,000; the remaining foreign languages ​​such as Russian, Chinese, German, Japanese, and Korean all had candidates registered for exams.

To better serve the exam organization, the city arranged 196 exam sites in 30 districts, towns and cities with more than 4,500 exam rooms; including 201 combined exam rooms, 176 waiting rooms and nearly 400 spare exam rooms. Candidates in a district, town and city are arranged into an exam cluster. The entire city mobilized more than 15,000 officials, teachers and staff to participate in exam supervision; nearly 600 officials and teachers graded the exams and nearly 600 officials and teachers were tasked with inspecting the exam supervision work stationed at the exam sites; established 12 teams to inspect the exam organization work...

Districts, towns and cities have established exam steering committees, giving top priority to facilities, equipment and exam organization conditions to ensure safety and convenience for candidates. 100% of exam locations are equipped with 24/7 security camera surveillance systems in the exam storage rooms and exam papers; there are plans to ensure absolute security and safety inside and outside the exam locations. Local exam steering committees actively participate in exam preparation work, establishing inspection teams at exam locations in the area.

Relevant departments and branches that are members of the Steering Committee also implement the plan according to the assignment of the City Examination Steering Committee, ensuring stable power supply; traffic flow; maintaining security and order outside the examination sites; having plans to ensure safety and confidentiality in the areas where exam papers are printed and transported, etc.

“From the successful organization of the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2024-2025 school year, Hanoi has gained more experience and determination to organize the 2024 high school graduation exam in the best way possible, ensuring safety and compliance with regulations,” said Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong. He also made a number of proposals, including the hope that the Ministry of Education and Training would provide specific guidance on the list of handheld calculators that candidates are allowed to bring into the exam room for easy monitoring; allow the examination councils of provinces and cities to print additional official exam papers for cross-checking in case the exam papers are found to be blurred or smudged, etc.

Determined to organize the exam successfully and safely

According to the representative of the Steering Committee for the 2024 High School Graduation Exam in Tay Ho District, the district has 4 testing sites with 103 testing rooms; including 89 official testing rooms, 14 backup rooms and waiting rooms; the total number of candidates registered for the exam is more than 2,100. The Steering Committee for the Tay Ho District Exam has inspected the testing sites and grading sites to prepare facilities and equipment according to the instructions of the Ministry of Education and Training and the Department of Education and Training; in particular, at Chu Van An Secondary School, it is planned to install 222 cameras to serve the testing work.

In Hoan Kiem district, there are 4 examination sites with nearly 2,100 candidates registered to take the exam (including 111 independent candidates); the district mobilized 98 teachers to participate in the examination supervision and arranged 4 locations to support candidates and parents during the exam. The Hoan Kiem district examination steering committee also directed secondary and high schools to set up examination sites to fully prepare facilities, carry out well the work of ensuring fire safety, disease prevention and control; ensuring convenience and safety for candidates and those participating in organizing the exam.

Through the actual inspection, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong, Head of the Steering Committee for the 2024 National High School Graduation Exam, highly appreciated the spirit of proactive preparation for the exam organization and the serious and responsible participation of the Hanoi City Examination Steering Committee and other units; in particular, the Hanoi teaching staff has a high sense of responsibility when maintaining free review for students until close to the exam.

“Hanoi has the largest number of candidates; the number of personnel participating in the exam is also very large, requiring strict, close and thorough direction and organization of the exam,” the Deputy Minister emphasized.

Noting some issues that need attention, Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong suggested that the Hanoi Steering Committee continue to review the preparation work for organizing this year's exam to ensure safety and care, paying special attention to the preservation of exam questions and papers; proactively having backup plans in case of unexpected situations; focusing on the exam supervision and grading according to regulations, ensuring safety.

Seriously accepting the direction of the National Examination Steering Committee, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha, Head of the Hanoi High School Graduation Examination Steering Committee affirmed: with the spirit of not being subjective, Hanoi will carefully review all conditions for organizing the exam; forecast unusual situations to proactively have timely handling plans, ensuring the best interests of candidates.

The City Steering Committee requested the Examination Steering Committees of 30 districts, towns and cities to urgently review and inspect all conditions for organizing the exam. From now until before the exam, the City Steering Committee will conduct surprise inspections of examination sites, paying attention to the plan for preserving exam papers and exam papers; taking care of candidates' health, ensuring traffic safety and responding to unusual situations due to natural disasters, epidemics, etc. Units and schools continue to strengthen propaganda about the examination regulations and related regulations to candidates, parents and those participating in the exam organization to avoid unfortunate incidents.
