The name Hoang Thanh Tung has long been known to fans as he grew up from the HAGL academy at the same time as Cong Phuong, Tuan Anh, Xuan Truong, Van Toan, Dong Trieu, Van Thanh, Hong Duy. He and his teammates competed enthusiastically in the U.19 Asian and Southeast Asian tournaments; won the U.21 international championship for two consecutive years in 2014 and 2015. He also scored a memorable goal against U.19 China at the U.19 Asian finals in Myanmar.

However, Thanh Tung's career was not as lucky as his teammates due to persistent injuries. He could not play regularly and lost his form. From the official attacking position on the right wing, Thanh Tung no longer appeared in the HAGL shirt, and at times had to be loaned to another club. After a while, he was forced to turn sideways, accepting to step back to find joy in the first-class playground. Coach Nguyen Van Dan, who was also Tung's teacher and brother at HAGL, gave him the opportunity at Phu Dong Ninh Binh.
The joy of Hoang Thanh Tung (17) and his teammates scoring against Ba Ria - Vung Tau
It was this trust that helped Thanh Tung strive to prove himself and shine with a double goal against Ba Ria - Vung Tau, in the match at Ninh Binh's home ground on November 1. Both goals in the first half were experienced moves, quick and decisive. The former HAGL star made the opponent "immobile" and unable to block. Thanh Tung could have scored a hat-trick if his shot in an open position in the second half had not gone over the bar.
Even though the Southeast team scored a goal from the 11m mark thanks to Van Phong, Thanh Tung and his teammates excellently defended the 2-1 result to have 6 points, surpassing Long An and rising to the top 3, just behind Da Nang.
Ho Thanh Minh (11) in the role of a wall attracted the Hoa Binh FC defense.
Meanwhile, Hue continued to surprise when they defeated the home team Hoa Binh FC 2-0. Few people thought that the ancient capital team could cause a shock when Hoa Binh had been unbeaten in the previous 2 matches under the leadership of coach Pham Thanh Luong. However, coach Nguyen Duc Dung and his team showed a strong will to compete and a strong spirit.
In the role of "decoy", Ho Thanh Minh played outstandingly. He attracted the attention of Hoa Binh's defense, creating opportunities for other teammates. It was his clever movements that helped Hue create more opportunities than the home team, forcing the opponent into confusion, revealing many gaps and making mistakes.
Ngoc Tu scored the second goal for Hue
Both of Hue's goals in the second half came from such exploits. The first goal in the 78th minute was a corner kick that allowed Viet Hieu to jump high and head the ball past the loose Hoa Binh defense to open the score. Four minutes later, from a careless pass from the home team's midfield, Nguyen Van Tu - a young midfielder from Viettel - seized the opportunity to break free and score, doubling the gap. This first defeat was a valuable lesson that will help coach Luong "di" gain more experience to better prepare tactics for the long-term battle in the first division.
"Lungless man" Thanh Nhan (right) is stuck in front of Dong Nai's defense.
Unlike Hue, the strong candidate PVF-CAND faced many difficulties when playing away. Facing the tenacious rookie Dong Nai, coach Mauro Jeronimo's team with too many stars playing for the U.23 and U.20 teams could not impose their position on the game. Compared to the opening match when Hoa Binh FC held them to a draw, the away team made 3 changes. They brought in former Nam Dinh defender Hoang Xuan Tan to replace Huynh Minh Doan on the right wing, brought in Hanoi FC midfielder Ngo Duc Hoang to replace Nguyen Duc Phu and brought in striker Tran Duc Nam to replace Le Quoc Nhat Nam.
Audience cheering at Dong Nai stadium
These changes, although positive, have not yet been effective because the PVF-CAND team's playing style is still confusing and their handling is not really sharp. Throughout the match, the deadlock was evident in the legs of Le Van Do, Nguyen Thanh Nhan, Huynh Cong Den, and Le Minh Binh. And this is also the second match in which they played worse than themselves.
Coach Mauro Jeronimo's disappointed face
With two draws, PVF-CAND has really disappointed compared to their status as a championship candidate. This situation shows that the path to promotion will no longer be paved with roses for Mr. Mauro Jeronimo and his team.
