Alphabet acquires Wiz for $32 billion

Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên23/03/2025

This is the biggest deal in Alphabet's history to enhance the security of Google's cloud services and compete more strongly with rivals such as Microsoft and Amazon.

Founded in 2020 by former members of Israel’s cyber intelligence unit 8200, Wiz quickly became one of the fastest-growing software companies. The company provides advanced cloud security solutions that help businesses identify and remediate security risks in cloud environments. Prior to the acquisition, Wiz served nearly half of the Fortune 500 and had annual revenue of approximately $700 million.

Wiz's homepage also announced the company's merger with Google.

The acquisition of Wiz demonstrates Google’s commitment to improving the security of its cloud services. Google CEO Sundar Pichai stressed that security is a top priority in the context of rapid development of AI (artificial intelligence), and the integration of Wiz will help organizations improve their defenses. According to experts, the successful acquisition of Wiz helps strengthen cloud security, the most important part of cybersecurity, at a time when businesses are facing ransomware.

Despite this, Google will face challenges such as increased regulatory scrutiny, integration difficulties, and ongoing legal issues. However, the Wiz acquisition is seen as a strategic move to better compete in the cloud and AI space, and could potentially transition Wiz’s large customer base to Google Cloud.

Previously in July 2024, Wiz canceled the $23 billion acquisition deal and decided to issue an initial public offering (IPO).
