Domestic coffee price list on December 16, 2024

Although the Central Highlands provinces are facing bad weather due to prolonged heavy rains, farmers here are still pushing to harvest coffee, because the coffee is ripe, if not harvested, the coffee beans will crack, seriously affecting the quality of the coffee.

The continuous rain not only affects the harvest process, but also directly affects the processing and preservation of coffee by the people. Moreover, green coffee beans also face mold and black beans, affecting the quality of the coffee beans sold.

According to statistics, Lam Dong province has a total coffee area of about 176,000 hectares, with a total output of over 570,000 tons. In 2023, Lam Dong province exported about 70,000 tons of coffee beans to countries such as India, the Netherlands, and the Netherlands, with a total value of about 155 million USD.

According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Ngoc - Director of Tan Nghia Cooperative in Di Linh district (Lam Dong province), in the 2024 crop year, the number of coffee harvesters for this cooperative is about 30% short. Coffee gardens with lots of fruit, flat, easy to transport are contracted at 1,300 VND/kg, while coffee gardens with less fruit will be contracted at about 1,600 VND/kg.

Currently, Tan Nghia Cooperative has 76 members, with a total coffee harvest area of about 135 hectares, with an average output of about 3.7 tons/hectare. “In my opinion, labor will be scarce in 2024 due to a large number of unskilled workers going to work as factory workers in big cities. Although the salary is a bit lower, it is stable. Meanwhile, picking coffee on a contract basis, they can only work for about 1-2 months, and the income is only high immediately,” said Mr. Ngoc.
