According to a press release from FPT Software on March 1, the company has acquired information technology (IT) services company Next Advanced Communications (NAC) in Japan. This is FPT's first merger and acquisition (M&A) deal in Japan.
As NAC becomes a wholly owned subsidiary of FPT, the company aims to double its customer base and service offerings, strengthening its foothold in the Japanese market.
According to FPT Software, this strategic move is in line with FPT’s global expansion strategy and will allow the company to leverage NAC’s talent pool of nearly 300 experienced and highly-skilled engineers, focusing on technology and business consulting, architectural design, system planning, design, development and operations. With these additional resources, FPT aims to achieve $1 billion in revenue from the Japanese market by 2027 and have more than half of its employees in Japan as multinationals.

With the current challenges of digital transformation in Japan, including an aging population, a shortage of IT personnel and the complexity of existing systems, the acquisition of NAC reflects FPT’s commitment to accompany Japanese enterprises in digital transformation and green transformation. This also helps FPT promote sustainable growth and competitiveness, while expanding its services to new industries and a wider range of customers.
"Like NAC, FPT strives to leverage technology to solve various customer problems, with the goal of creating a sustainable society for everyone. We aim to develop a team of talented Japanese engineers and cooperate with local companies to help customers maintain business continuity despite difficulties. In addition, FPT prioritizes and promotes a multicultural working environment. I believe NAC and FPT will achieve greater success and joy with our cooperation," said Mr. Do Van Khac, Deputy General Director of FPT Software (a member company of FPT Corporation).
“Since the establishment of NAC 13 years ago, we have achieved success as an independent company. Today, by joining the FPT family, I believe that we can not only maintain our growth but also create stronger overall strength for the future. NAC and FPT will strive to accelerate our business activities more than ever and become a company that can contribute to society,” said Naoto Yamazaki, Chairman of NAC.
Since 2014, FPT has completed several M&A deals in the US and Europe. In Japan, the company recently established a joint venture with Konica Minolta and made a strategic investment in LTS. The acquisition of NAC, FPT’s first M&A deal in Japan, highlights FPT’s long-term commitment and focus on this key market. This also creates momentum for the group’s future M&A activities.
FPT has been present in the Japanese market for nearly two decades. FPT Japan is one of the largest foreign-invested technology companies in the country in terms of human resources. With a workforce of 2,900 direct employees, nearly 15,000 employees working overseas, 16 local offices and innovation centers, FPT Japan has provided services and solutions to more than 450 customers worldwide. The company has also been recognized for its excellent employee benefits and workplace happiness, winning awards such as "Best Workplace in Asia", "Best Workplace in Japan" and "Best Workplace for Women in Japan".
