The European Union (EU) and the 14 member states of the Latin American Internal Security Commission (CLASI) are jointly promoting a “permanent channel” for closer cooperation against organized crime.
EU interior ministers and CLASI have established a schedule, regular contacts and a permanent communication channel.
The two sides also pledged to increase intelligence exchange, conduct joint activities related to financial investigations and promote anti-drug measures; support the institutionalization of the Latin American Police Community (Ameripol) to strengthen its role in the fight against serious organized crime in the Latin American region.
