In an exclusive interview with Fox News on March 18, Elon Musk spoke out about recent protests against Tesla and him personally surrounding Tesla sales points, charging stations, and parking lots.
He said the vandalism had reached unprecedented levels and blamed the left. “It’s shocking to me that there’s this level of hatred and violence on the left,” Musk told Fox News host Sean Hannity.
“I always thought the Democratic Party should stand for empathy, for concern,” Musk continued to comment, implying that the actions of burning cars, attacking dealerships with petrol bombs, and smashing Tesla cars were from the opposing political party.
Attorney General Pam Bondi has called recent targeted attacks on Tesla vehicles “nothing short of domestic terrorism,” after five Tesla vehicles were damaged in a fire that broke out at a repair center in Las Vegas.

Many such events have occurred across the United States since Elon Musk began working with the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE. “Don’t buy a Tesla” movements have appeared in Berlin and Wales.
The protest movement originated on Bluesky, a rival platform to Elon Musk’s X, which calls on owners to sell their Tesla cars and shares to “stop Musk now.” The site lists dozens of public protests at Tesla showrooms in recent weeks.
Faced with the situation, Elon Musk shared that Tesla is a peaceful company, and they have not done anything harmful. He also suggested that the vandalism and protests are part of a larger conspiracy against him.
Since January, DOGE has been working to cut costs and what it describes as cracking down on fraud and corruption. The agency has sent representatives to federal government offices and reviewed programs like the Social Security Administration.
While not mentioning any specific government agencies, Musk accused some of the recipients of corruption and implied that they were involved in recent protests against Tesla.
“They basically want to kill me for stopping their fraud, and they want to hurt Tesla because we're pushing back against waste and corruption in government,” he said in an interview on Fox News .
Both President Trump and the Justice Department have recently spoken out about the Tesla attacks. Trump is considering labeling the attacks “domestic terrorism” and aggressively pursuing the perpetrators.
On March 19, San Jose police arrested a man after a video went viral on X, showing the suspect unlocking a Tesla and saying he did it simply because of Elon Musk. San Jose police have not yet released the man's identity.
Meanwhile, Tesla owners have reported increased anger and vandalism in recent days, with some deciding to sell their cars or posting “I Bought This Before Elon Went Crazy” signs amid the protests.
