On the afternoon of March 21, Brighton's homepage announced the new Korean striker. Yoon Do-young signed a 5-year contract with Brighton, lasting until June 2030, marking an important milestone in the career of the emerging Korean football prodigy.

Yoon will move to train with the Seagulls from July, after playing the first stage of the 2025 season with Daejeon Hana Citizen. The player born in 2006 went to Vietnam with Daejeon Hana Citizen for training last year, playing with Hanoi Club and The Cong Viettel.

Yoon Do-young is considered one of the most promising young stars in Korean football today. A move to the Premier League – one of the toughest leagues in the world – promises to be a launching pad for his career development.

Brighton, famous for its policy of recruiting and developing young talents, also expect Yoon to continue the success of names like Kaoru Mitoma or Joao Pedro - players they bought at low prices and raised to become valuable faces.

According to South Korean media, Brighton spent less than 2 million euros to acquire Yoon Do-young, a typical deal for the English club's policy of searching for "rough gems". This deal also affirms the growing influence of Asian players, especially Japanese and Korean players in Europe.

David Weir, Brighton's Technical Director, said Yoon Do-young is considered by experts as one of the most exciting young talents in Asia in recent times.

"We will monitor him closely as he continues his development in Korea until the summer, and then look for a suitable club to send him out on loan next season," Weir said of his plans for Yoon.

This is also the strategy that "Seagull" has applied very successfully with Kaoru Mitoma. Yoon Do-young is a member of the Korean U20 team, scoring 1 goal and having 3 assists in 19 matches in K.League 1 2024.
