Germany and Chile announced on November 25 that they are planning to set up a club to help developing countries make green investments in emission-intensive industries such as steel and cement production.
The club is expected to be established at the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), taking place in Dubai from December 1. Accordingly, Germany and Chile will promote policy frameworks to accelerate this process, including the coordination of international green industry standards such as calculating emissions in industrial products.
Earlier, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz discussed plans to establish a climate club with leaders of the World Bank (WB), the African Development Bank and the World Trade Organization (WTO).
