Fullkrug still scored the only goal in the first leg of the semi-final, in a more difficult situation. In the 36th minute, center-back Nico Schlotterbeck passed the ball over the line for the 31-year-old striker to break the offside trap, control the ball for a moment and then shoot with his left foot into the near corner, defeating goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Fullkrug was born in 1993, is 1.89 m tall, and grew up at the Werder Bremen training center. He was called up to the German national team for the first time at the age of 29, but has scored 11 goals in 15 international matches. This is Fullkrug's first season playing for Dortmund, with 15 goals in 40 matches in all competitions.
