NDO - On the evening of March 17, at 28/8 Square, Tra Xuan town, Tra Bong district (Quang Ngai), the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ngai province coordinated with the People's Committee of Tra Bong district to organize a ceremony to receive the certificate of National Intangible Cultural Heritage for the art of decorating poles of the Co people, Tra Bong district.

Tra Bong is not only a land rich in revolutionary traditions but also a land known for many unique cultural features. Among them, the art of decorating poles of the Co ethnic group exists and develops in association with the buffalo eating festival from thousands of years ago, passed down from generation to generation, expressing a distinct cultural identity, bearing the mark of the Co ethnic community in Tra Bong district.

The Co ethnic group's pole is a unique and distinctive decoration that represents the typical value of folk art in the vast Truong Son and Central Highlands regions. The combination of unique patterns with the shaping of the pole is not simply a creation of beauty for entertainment, aesthetics and enjoyment, but also a way to send wishes to the gods about the dream of a better life for the Co ethnic group living in Tra Bong district.

The art of decorating the pole shows a distinct cultural identity, bearing the mark of the Co ethnic community, Tra Bong district.

According to the Head of the Department of Culture, Science and Information of Tra Bong district, Vo Van Diep, the art of decorating the flagpole of the Co ethnic group is a cultural heritage formed along with the development history of the nation, always associated with the spiritual life, customs, festivals, and entertainment activities of the community, loved by the Co people, passed down, and developed from generation to generation.

In recent years, the art of decorating poles of the Co ethnic group has been widely promoted and introduced inside and outside the province. Thereby, contributing to introducing to domestic and foreign friends the good, beautiful and unique things about the art of decorating poles of the Co ethnic group.

The art of decorating the flagpole is loved, passed down and developed by the Co people from generation to generation.

With the above values ​​and meanings, on August 9, 2024, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued Decision No. 2323/QD-BVHTTDL announcing the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage for "The art of decorating poles of the Co people", Tra Bong district, Quang Ngai province, belonging to the category of folk knowledge.

On the same afternoon, the District Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tra Bong district solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Tra Bong district's Liberation Day (March 18, 1975 - March 18, 2025).

Tra Bong District Party Secretary Nguyen Van Dung delivered a speech at the ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the leaders of Quang Ngai province, comrade Dang Ngoc Huy, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Quang Ngai province congratulated and commended the great and comprehensive results that the Party Committee, government, army and people of Tra Bong district have achieved in the struggle for national liberation and in 50 years of building and developing the homeland.

To be worthy of the sacrifice of our ancestors, comrade Dang Ngoc Huy suggested that Tra Bong district continue to promote the heroic tradition, join hands, unite, innovate, and bring the district to sustainable development, contributing to building an increasingly rich and civilized homeland.

Comrade Dang Ngoc Huy, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Quang Ngai province, spoke at the ceremony.

In particular, the immediate task at this time is to promote the sense of responsibility of cadres and party members in performing assigned tasks, not to neglect work. Proactively research and propose the arrangement and organization of communes to suit the population, area, historical characteristics, ethnicity, culture and development space.

For economic development, it is necessary to focus on exploiting and maximizing existing potentials and advantages; investing in building synchronous infrastructure according to planning, associated with prioritizing concentrated production areas.

Chairman of Tra Bong District People's Committee Tran Hoang Vinh spoke at the ceremony.

At the same time, build, develop and expand urban space in the right direction and planning; promote agricultural and forestry promotion, develop household economy, garden and forest economy, farm and ranch economy; strengthen support and guidance for the effective implementation of investment projects on growing precious medicinal plants and large timber trees in the area; effectively implement 3 national target programs, ethnic and mountainous policies; proactively adapt to climate change and protect the environment, develop rapidly and sustainably.
