Ho Chi Minh City calls on people to vote for outstanding events in 50 years of national reunification

The Political Consultative Conference for National Reunification held in Saigon

On the afternoon of March 20, at a regular press conference on the socio-economic situation of Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Trinh Huu Anh - Head of the Press and Publishing Department, Department of Culture and Sports - introduced events and activities for people to vote for 50 outstanding events and activities of Ho Chi Minh City, towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

Mr. Trinh Huu Anh said that the voting for outstanding events aims to honor typical achievements that have contributed to the development of Ho Chi Minh City in particular and the country in general.

Events and activities nominated by the public will be considered for voting by the Nomination Council when nominated by the majority of the public (at least 30% of the total number of nominees).

Some of the notable events are listed below:

- Ho Chi Minh campaign was completely victorious;

- Saigon and the whole country entered a new era;

- The Saigon - Gia Dinh City Revolutionary People's Committee introduced itself to the people;

- The Political Consultative Conference for National Reunification held in Saigon;

- The first session of the 6th National Assembly of unified Vietnam passed a resolution officially naming Saigon - Gia Dinh city as Ho Chi Minh City...

Voting period is from March 21 to March 31.

Additional voting and nomination criteria (if any) are as follows:

Events and activities must be in line with the Party and State's guidelines and policies, and the city's socio-economic development strategy through each historical period in all fields.

Has positive, widespread, long-lasting impacts that are agreed upon, responded to, supported and implemented by the people.

In addition, the event or activity must have typical historical, political, and socio-economic development values ​​of Ho Chi Minh City in particular, the Southeast region and the whole country in general, have resonance, be recognized by the Central and the whole country, and be supported by international friends.

Events and activities must be groundbreaking, have value beyond time and space, pave the way for new trends, and be beneficial to society.

Outstanding events and activities have taken place and been completed, bringing profound values ​​and meanings, demonstrating the pioneering, leading and overcoming all difficulties and obstacles of Ho Chi Minh City.

Outstanding events and activities reflect the typical characteristics of the people of Ho Chi Minh City.
