A delegation from the French Development Agency visited two sponsored projects in Kim Son district.

On the morning of June 12, a delegation from the French Development Agency (AFD) visited the Au Kim Dai project and the Phat Diem urban infrastructure improvement project in Kim Son district, funded by AFD.

Comrade Nguyen Cao Son, Member of Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee received and worked with the delegation. Accompanying were leaders of relevant departments, branches, and Kim Son District People's Committee.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee informed the delegation about the implementation of the two projects. Accordingly, the Au Kim Dai construction project to prevent salinity, retain fresh water and respond to the impact of rising sea levels for 6 districts and cities in the Southern Ninh Binh area, Ninh Binh province has the investment goal of preventing salinity from penetrating deep into the river system in the province; storing and regulating water in the southern part of Ninh Binh province; preventing backflow from the Day River to the Vac River; facilitating waterway traffic.

The project has been completed and put into operation since April 2022. The investor, contractors and state management agencies have completed the acceptance of the project; the project has been handed over to the user, the Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited, for management, exploitation and operation. Currently, the investor is preparing documents to carry out the procedures for finalizing the completed project. The project has been completed and disbursement has ended.

For the project to improve urban infrastructure to minimize the impact of climate change for 4 coastal provinces of North Central Vietnam - Sub-project to improve urban infrastructure of Phat Diem, Kim Son district, Ninh Binh province. The investment objective is to improve urban infrastructure to contribute to stabilizing and maintaining the socio-economic situation of Phat Diem urban area in the context of strong impacts of climate change with extreme weather conditions that are increasingly severe in both frequency and severity; Improve the living environment and minimize the impacts of climate change on people; achieve the goal of contributing to hunger eradication and poverty reduction for people in Phat Diem urban area, increasing income for people.

The working group inspected the construction progress of the Phat Diem Urban Infrastructure Improvement Sub-project.

The project started construction in October 2022 and is focusing on the Phat Diem, Luu Phuong, and feeder routes. Site clearance work basically ensures project progress. Capital allocation is timely; cumulative disbursement from the beginning of the project to date has reached VND 244,286 billion.

Representatives of the French Development Agency delegation spent a lot of time learning about the project's effectiveness and implementation progress, the advantages and difficulties in implementing the Phat Diem Urban Infrastructure Improvement Project, Kim Son District. At the same time, they highly appreciated the implementation of Ninh Binh province's commitment to the sponsor, so the two projects were implemented according to the set plan, ensuring quality and time progress.

Comrade Nguyen Cao Son, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, thanked the French Development Agency for its attention and investment in projects in Kim Son district, which have brought high efficiency in minimizing the impacts of climate change on people, contributing to the construction of sustainable coastal urban development.

He requested: Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited to effectively operate the Au Kim Dai project; The Management Board of Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Projects, Kim Son district to speed up the site clearance progress to ensure the project implementation progress according to the set plan.
