For the past 3 months, Aly Dung has been actively receiving treatment at Gia Dinh People's Hospital. The cost of dialysis is more than 6 million VND per week, and 24 million VND per month. This amount is beyond his financial capacity, causing him to fall into poverty.
Aly Dung currently lives in a rented room in District 7. The room is about 6 square meters wide, rented by a former student for him to stay temporarily for a year. Every day, the actor often cooks porridge with soy sauce to save on living expenses and save money for treatment.
“I was alone, without any relatives, so when I fell ill, I didn’t know who to turn to. Some friends and colleagues also donated money for my treatment. I saved up, not daring to eat or drink to save for treatment, but it was really not enough,” he said.
Artists Phi Phung, Phuong Dung and Thuy Muoi also visited, representing a benefactor, and gave Aly Dung more than 10 million VND.
After more than 40 years in the profession, Aly Dung has only been assigned supporting roles in small segments. In recent years, due to old age and poor health, he has not been contacted by directors to appear in films.
