Today (February 3, the 6th day of the Lunar New Year), the Ho Chi Minh City Resistance Tradition Club - Saigon - Gia Dinh Armed Forces, armed forces heroes, veterans and relatives, descendants of commando soldiers gathered at house number 499/20 Cach Mang Thang Tam Street (District 10) to offer incense, flowers in memory and a joint memorial service for the heroic martyrs.

The joint memorial service for the heroic martyrs of the Saigon - Gia Dinh Special Forces is the wish of the Hero of the People's Armed Forces - Colonel Nguyen Duc Hung (aka Tu Chu) - Commander of the Saigon Special Forces and their families.

This is the second year that the memorial service has been held at house number 499/20 Cach Mang Thang Tam Street. Previously, this house was a garage serving logistics and technical needs for the Saigon - Gia Dinh special forces.

Former comrades on the old battlefield were happy and emotional to meet each other again. In the photo, Mr. Nguyen Van Than (nickname Muoi Than), a former military intelligence officer who worked in the enemy's ranks, was moved to tears when he met his comrades and acquaintances again.

Many veterans who were Saigon - Gia Dinh special forces soldiers in the past and relatives of martyrs attended the ceremony.

During the 1968 Tet Offensive, the Saigon - Cho Lon - Gia Dinh special forces with only 88 people divided into 5 wings, at 2:00 a.m. on the 2nd day of the Lunar New Year (January 31, 1968), carried out a number of battles at the Independence Palace, the US Embassy, ​​the Navy Command, the General Staff, the General Police Department, the Capital Special Zone, the Radio Station, Tan Son Nhat Airport..., shaking Saigon and world public opinion.

At the ceremony, Mr. Phan Xuan Bien - former Head of the Propaganda Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee - shared that the Saigon special forces fought bravely and sacrificed their lives in the resistance war against France and the US, especially in the Mau Than campaign in 1968. To this day, the remains of some soldiers have not been found.

According to Mr. Bien, this joint memorial service contributes to educating traditions, so that the younger generation always remembers the great contributions of soldiers who sacrificed for the independence, freedom and unification of the country. At the same time, the event is a reminder for the younger generation to constantly study, cultivate and practice morality, and contribute to building and developing the country.

Also on the same morning, at the Ho Chi Minh City Martyrs Cemetery (Thu Duc City), the Ho Chi Minh City Command held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a memorial stele for the martyrs of the Saigon - Gia Dinh special forces.
