Telegrams, letters, messages of condolence on the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong

Upon hearing the news of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's passing, leaders of many countries sent telegrams, letters, and messages of condolences to our Party, State, and the General Secretary's family.

It is reported that comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam passed away, President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella; President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron and President of the French Senate Gérard Larcher; President of the Algerian People's Democratic Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune; President of the Federal Republic of Brazil Lula Da Silva; State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani;

Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, Chairman of the Unified Marxist-Leninist Communist Party of Nepal KP Sharma Oi; President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Bola Ahmed Tinubu; President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan; President of the Republic of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov; President of the Democratic Republic of Uzbekistan of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe, Prime Minister of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Dinesh Gunawardena; ruling parties, Communist parties around the world, partner parties, international organizations sent telegrams/letters/messages of condolence to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam To Lam, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh, the Vietnamese people and the family of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

The contents of the telegrams/letters/messages are as follows:

* President of the Republic of Italy Sergio Mattarella emphasized the great contributions of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in promoting the relationship between Vietnam and Italy, the two countries upgraded the relationship to a strategic partnership in 2013 during General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's visit to Italy in January 2013. President Mattarella recalled the memory of meeting General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in Hanoi in 2015 and witnessing with General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong the development of friendship between the Vietnamese and Italian people, as well as the determination of the two countries in strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

* President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron said that throughout his life of serving his ideas and his country, Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong has spared no effort for Vietnam's sovereignty and led the country to achieve remarkable achievements in Vietnam's socio-economic development.

President Macron recalled memories of his meeting with General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in Paris in 2018, as well as the contents discussed with General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong during a phone call in October 2023, including the determination to strengthen the friendship and cooperation between the two countries and peoples.

In the letter, President of the French Senate Gérard Larcher recalled the memories of the contents discussed with General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong during his visit to Vietnam in December 2022.

* President of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria Abdelmadjid Tebboune sent a letter of condolences to President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam To Lam.

* President of the Federative Republic of Brazil Lula Da Silva sent condolences to President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam To Lam and Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh.

* His Highness the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, and His Highness the Deputy Emir, Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani, sent their condolences to President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, To Lam. His Highness the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, sent his condolences to Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Pham Minh Chinh.

* Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal Unified Marxist-Leninist KP Sharma Oi sent a message of condolences to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

* President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Bola Ahmed Tinubu sent a message of condolences.

* President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe sent a letter of condolence to President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam To Lam, Prime Minister of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Dinesh Gunawardena sent a letter of condolence to Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh. Communist Party of Sri Lanka G. Weerasinghe, General Secretary of the Sri Lanka People's Liberation Front Tilvin Silva sent a telegram/letter of condolence to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

*President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan sent a message of condolences to President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam To Lam.

* President of the Republic of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent a letter of condolences to President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam To Lam.

* President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev sent a letter of condolences to President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam To Lam.

* Acting Chairman of the Korean People's Power Party Hwang Woo Yea sent a message of condolences to President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam To Lam.

* The Chairman of the German Communist Party and the World Peace Council sent condolences to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

* The Communist Party of Australia, the national leader of the Communist Party of Canada; the Galician-Spanish Popular Union (UPG), Secretary General of the ruling CNDD-FDD Party of Burundi Ndikuriyo Révérien, the President of the Communist Party of Chile, the Foreign Minister of Mexico, and the ruling Progressive Alliance of Nigeria sent messages of condolences.

* The World Federation of Democratic Youth, the Board of Directors of the World Youth Festival, the Sri Lankan Youth Federation, and the Young Guards of the United Russia sent letters of condolence to the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.

* The wife of General Secretary and President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Naly Sisoulith, sent a letter of condolences to the wife of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Ngo Thi Man.

In the letter filled with special feelings, Madam Naly Sisoulith expressed her emotion, regret and infinite sorrow upon hearing the news of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's passing; recalled the profound and memorable memories with General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and his wife during high-level visits between the two countries; affirmed that the Lao people as well as the Vietnamese people always deeply appreciate the life and tireless contributions of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to the country and people of Vietnam, as well as the special affection of the General Secretary for the leaders and people of Laos and the special solidarity and great friendship between Vietnam and Laos; sent words of encouragement to the wife and family of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in this particularly difficult time.

* Malaysian Foreign Minister Dato' Seri Utama Haji Mohamad Bin Haji Hasan sent a condolence message to Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son.
