On the afternoon of March 22, musician and vocal instructor Luu Thien Huong attended the launching event of the 2025 Global Vietnamese Singing Contest in Ho Chi Minh City.

Sharing with VietNamNet about how to manage time and maintain health at the age of U50, Luu Thien Huong said she plays pickleball regularly 1-2 hours every day, except when she is busy or on a business trip. She switched from tennis to this sport at the end of last year, feeling her health has improved significantly, and she is more excited when working. "When you have good health, you can do everything without feeling tired," Luu Thien Huong excitedly said.

Luu Thien Huong's "pickleball club" includes musician Ho Hoai Anh and MC Van Hugo. They also bring their whole family to join, both for entertainment and to connect and discuss work.

Luu Thien Huong said that her 20-year-old daughter - Mimi Luu (Ha Luu Vy Uyen) works out every day. Thanks to discipline in training and nutrition, Mimi Luu has a beautiful body.

According to the female musician, Mimi Luu is independent and self-sufficient thanks to moving to Ho Chi Minh City since she was young. Mimi Luu arranges her own schedule and always shares all the difficulties in studying and life with the female musician.

Thanks to her experience as a lecturer and having a lot of contact with Gen Z students, Luu Thien Huong understands the psychology of girls. The female musician teaches her daughter both music and life skills. "Because I am a musician, when composing songs like Ngai Ngung for Huong Tram, I often put myself at the age of 14-15 to get the emotions. Thanks to that, I have the ability to transform into an 18-year-old girl to understand girls better," Luu Thien Huong humorously said.

Mimi Luu is currently studying Business Administration at the National Economics University while practicing piano and singing every day with her teacher. Mimi Luu is proficient in piano, guitar, singing and dancing. Luu Thien Huong lets Mimi Luu develop freely, not worrying if her daughter wants to pursue a professional music career. However, Mimi Luu wants to focus on perfecting all her skills and has no intention of entering showbiz yet.

Regarding current music trends, Luu Thien Huong said that new compositions in recent years often find it difficult to create a unique mark. Artists need to be different, both artistic and serving the public.

However, the challenge for new faces is that it is difficult to "attract" the audience to watch and listen to their products. The secret to composing and arranging is to create a highlight and attention-grabbing part of the song, because the trend in the past 2 years has been short music clips on social networks. "If you don't understand what the audience is paying attention to when they surf social networks, it will be difficult for artists to succeed, no matter how good the music is," she shared.

The female musician does not think this limits creativity but rather presents a big challenge, because creating a highlight in a short piece is harder than writing a song. Artists can see this as a formula but should not abuse it, need to constantly update it.

Luu Thien Huong is the head of the jury of the 2025 Global Vietnamese Singing Contest. The jury also includes singers Sy Luan, Giang Hong Ngoc, Ngoc Anh, famous singers Y Lan and Manh Dinh.

The 2025 Global Vietnamese Singing Contest consists of 4 main rounds in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, including: Preliminary round, semi-final, final, and final ranking round. This year's contest is looking for contestants aged 16-60 in Vietnam, instead of recruiting in Europe like the previous 2 seasons. The singers will compete in 3 main music genres: Romantic (Old music, Bolero...), Folk - Red music, Light music (Pop, Rock, R&B...). The winners will have the opportunity to tour in Europe.
