Candidates review their lessons before entering the 10th grade literature exam room this morning.
Before entering the 10th grade literature exam room, candidate Nguyen Tuong Anh, Colette Secondary School (District 3), said: "Last night before going to bed early, I took the time to read through the main ideas of the works in the 9th grade textbook to grasp the meaning and literary value. If today's literature exam has a topic, I will easily choose a suitable work to use as material for the test."
Pham Thanh Trang, a candidate from Kien Thiet Secondary School (District 3), nervously said: "I don't know what the topic of today's essay will be. I tried the 10th grade exam last year with the topic of time. I think this year the Department of Education and Training will not give a topic on that topic anymore. But it might be a suitable topic and related to life for students to enjoy."
In the literature exam room, the invigilator will distribute the test papers at 7:55 a.m. as prescribed.
Sharing about the orientation of compiling the 10th grade literature exam before the exam took place, Master Tran Tien Thanh, a specialist in charge of literature at the Department of Education and Training, said: "This year's literature exam will have a high degree of 'openness'. Candidates need to focus on practicing skills and accumulating knowledge to best fulfill the requirements of the exam."
Master Tien Thanh also informed that texts (newspapers, commentaries, science books, etc.) with content appropriate to age groups and related to current events will be selected as materials for the reading comprehension section. Thereby, the test aims to test reading comprehension skills: Detecting, identifying, decoding words, details, images; finding Vietnamese issues in the text; summarizing the text; linking the text being read with other related texts, linking to real life, giving personal opinions on the issues raised in the text; creating different ways of expression, proposing solutions, giving new titles, etc.
Parents took a souvenir photo of their child on the first exam day with the wish for everything to go smoothly and be lucky.
Candidates will take the 10th grade literature exam within 120 minutes with the exam structure consisting of 3 parts: reading comprehension (3 points), social commentary (3 points) and literary commentary (4 points).
In the afternoon of the same day (June 6), candidates took the 10th grade foreign language exam within 90 minutes.
