Dedicated and responsible for his local activities, journalist Vu Kieu Minh values "correct and accurate" official information and always wants to be able to quickly and promptly disseminate information to the public. One of the "sources of information" that he highly values is information from regular press conferences and information.

I was assigned by the agency to Quang Ninh to be the Head of the Northeast Representative Office of NTNN/Dan Viet newspaper from February 2023. And since then, every Tuesday afternoon, I have been able to participate in the regular press briefing chaired by the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department in coordination with the Provincial People's Committee's Department of Information and Communications. Every month, I also attend the monthly information briefing, which is usually held in different districts depending on the monthly content.

During my time as a reporter in Hanoi, I also regularly attended regular meetings of the Hanoi People's Committee, or the monthly press conferences of the Government. These meetings were all organized in a very methodical and professional manner, and most importantly, this was the place to provide extremely useful and necessary information for journalists, especially the monthly regular meeting of the Government chaired by the Government Office, where most of the leaders of important ministries and branches were present, where most of the hottest issues of the month were dissected and analyzed, where reporters could freely ask questions related to all the issues they were interested in and most of them received satisfactory answers from the relevant ministries and branches and competent authorities.
And when I came to live in Quang Ninh, I was quite surprised to regularly participate in weekly and monthly meetings here, with a level of professionalism and methodicality no less than the meetings of the Government Office. The only difference was the scale and scope of issues that reporters were interested in, which were contained in the activities of the province.
However, what impressed me was the way the Organizing Committee conducted the meetings in a very coherent, clear and decisive manner. And I was also particularly impressed with the draft weekly and monthly reports summarizing the issues that the press was interested in and reflected on as well as the feedback from the authorities and public opinion drafted by the authorities of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department because they were both comprehensive and very detailed, specific to each issue.
In these meetings, there are usually quite a number of reporters from press agencies residing and operating in the province, most of the hot issues are answered satisfactorily and fully. Questions, even difficult ones, are answered directly, without beating around the bush. In short, the quality of information from weekly and monthly meetings is always at a fair to good level.
Journalist Vu Kieu Minh also emphasized some necessary points in the coming time to improve the quality and effectiveness of weekly and monthly meetings.
First of all, it is necessary to strengthen the information content in areas related to social security, security and order. These are all areas closely related to the interests of the people and are also issues that the press is interested in and wishes to reflect to provide information to readers, so we hope that the Organizing Committee of the weekly meetings will quickly grasp the hot issues of the week and month so that they can quickly hold meetings and provide timely information. From there, having timely information will avoid the press being short of information, leading to incorrect and one-sided information.
Second, it is necessary to prepare some main contents for weekly and monthly meetings, and consult with journalists and reporters before holding the meeting. If any content is of interest to and requested by many reporters and journalists, we hope that the Organizing Committee will invite representatives of relevant and responsible authorities to participate in the meeting to share, answer and respond to the press in a fair and transparent manner. Only then will the dissemination of information and policies of the province be smooth and effective.
Thirdly, to increase interaction in the meetings between the host and reporters and journalists, to avoid one-way meetings, where only the host speaks and there is no participation in comments, sharing, or questions and answers from journalists and reporters, in addition to the main topic of each meeting, it is recommended that the Conference Organizing Committee also encourage and agree that journalists and reporters can ask questions and provide information outside the scope of the meeting and the Conference Organizing Committee will have a Secretariat to record and forward to the competent authorities to respond to reporters and journalists in writing or work directly afterwards.
Finally, each meeting can quickly announce the results of some issues that have been answered and handled since the previous meeting, about the involvement of the authorities in the issues that have been reported and reflected in the press. Only then will the press agencies have confidence and feel that the meetings are truly useful and effective and will look forward to participating weekly and monthly without needing calls, encouragement, or recommendations from the Organizing Committee.
