(QBĐT) - On the morning of March 22, the MAG Vietnam Project for Explosive Ordnance Detection and Disposal announced that the mobile bomb disposal team had safely handled and transported a large bomb discovered on the coast of Thanh Trach commune (Bo Trach).
Accordingly, on the morning of March 21, people discovered a large bomb lying close to the coast and only 250m from a residential area in Thanh Xuan village, Thanh Trach commune (Bo Trach).
Upon receiving a request from the Provincial Military Command, the MAG bomb disposal team arrived at the scene. After assessment, experts determined that the bomb was coded MK82 and weighed approximately 230kg.
With strict handling procedures, MAG's technical team applied professional measures to neutralize and transport the bomb to a centralized destruction area, ensuring absolute safety for people in the area.
It is known that this is the second large bomb discovered in the past week in Quang Binh and was safely handled by MAG. In Thanh Trach commune, where the bomb was recently discovered, in recent years, MAG has handled 24 missions following reports from local people, safely removing 35 explosives.
Since its inception in Vietnam in 1999, MAG has responded to more than 19,000 emergency calls in Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Quang Nam provinces, safely destroying more than 119,400 items of hazardous explosives. These efforts have helped to immediately eliminate hazards and support a safer living environment for local residents.
