Strengthening the prevention and reduction of illegal child labor

The project on preventing all forms of child labor in arduous, hazardous and toxic working environments, including child sexual exploitation in the online environment and violations of minimum working conditions in Vietnam (ACE project) aims to promote prevention and reduction of illegal child labor by 2025-2030.

Speaking at the workshop, World Vision Vietnam Country Director Doseba Siney highly appreciated the efforts of the ACE Philippines Project and Vietnam, together with partners from the government, business and social sectors, in implementing the project on an important issue and doing their best to support the important mission of combating child labor, including online child sexual exploitation in the region. Vietnam has been selected as the second country to replicate the impact of the project since 2021. Thereby, the successful results and lessons learned from the ACE Philippines Project for the implementation of the ACE Project in Vietnam, giving the team enthusiasm and confidence in the results achieved.

“This workshop provides an opportunity for the ACE Project and partners to share milestones achieved by each country, exchange learnings to adapt and replicate good practices, identify strengths, gaps, challenges and opportunities to inform future programming, and identify key strategic actions to support the sustainability of mechanisms to address the worst forms of child labour, including online child sexual exploitation and violations of acceptable working conditions by 2024,” said Doseba Siney.

At the workshop, sharing about the role of the pioneering country in the 8.7 alliance of Vietnam, Mr. Dang Hoa Nam, Director of the Department of Children (Ministry of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs) also emphasized: In the coming time, the Ministry will continue to advise the Government to perfect policies on preventing and reducing child labor associated with perfecting the child protection system. At the same time, coordinate with ministries, branches and organizations to implement programs and projects on preventing and reducing child labor 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030. In addition, implementing target 8.7 on eliminating child labor, integrating child labor into the child protection system; continuing to strengthen the monitoring, supervision, evaluation, inspection and examination system on child labor; strengthening international cooperation and affirming the responsibility of parents, families and businesses towards children...
