105 scholarships worth more than 53.2 billion VND for many fields of study
RMIT Vietnam's 2024 scholarship program has received special attention from young people, with 1,900 applications for 19 categories, including foundation, undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs.
The school has awarded 105 scholarships worth more than VND53.2 billion to Vietnamese students as well as students from other countries, including 21 scholarships for students currently studying at the school to honor their excellent academic achievements.
Director of Student Affairs at RMIT University Vietnam, Associate Professor Dr Seng Kiat Kok expressed his delight at the quality of this year’s scholarship candidates, and shared that the scholarship selection committee was very impressed with the applications the university received.
The full scholarship, one of the school's most prestigious scholarship categories, is awarded to seven high school students with excellent academic performance, active participation in community activities and leadership potential.
Full scholarship applicants must submit a personal video, a motivation letter, letters of recommendation, and a digital portfolio highlighting achievements and extracurricular activities. The selection process consists of three stages: application screening, shortlisting, and an interview in English. The scholarship covers 100% of the undergraduate tuition fee.
Other scholarships, worth 25 - 50% of tuition fees, are allocated to categories including specialized fields of study, academic achievements, scholarships for international students and postgraduates.
10 years of Dream Wings Scholarship
This year’s scholarship award ceremony coincides with the 10th anniversary of RMIT’s Winged Dream Scholarship, an initiative that has changed the lives of many young people over the past decade.
Since its launch in 2014, the Wings of Dreams Scholarship has demonstrated the school’s commitment to providing opportunities for Vietnamese students with disabilities and/or financial difficulties, young people with positive personal qualities and a desire to study at university.
By 2020, the school will continue to expand the impact and effectiveness of the scholarship through cooperation with non-profit organizations in the selection process for those in need of support and other related activities. These scholarships are awarded annually and are worth an average of about 1.7 billion VND each.
Along with long-standing partners KOTO and Sao Mai Center for the Blind, this year the school signed cooperation agreements with two new organizations: Blue Dragon Children's Organization and Maison Chance. The school awarded 8 Wings of Dreams Scholarships to disadvantaged students, including 5 scholarships through partner organizations.
To date, the school has awarded 42 Wings of Dreams Scholarships, worth more than 70.2 billion VND. In addition to the full tuition fees for the English and university programs, along with monthly living expenses, a laptop and expenses for home visits (if necessary), students receiving scholarships will fully enjoy all other benefits such as the expertise and international experience of the teaching staff, high-standard equipment and facilities, as well as a practical curriculum and close relationships with businesses in the industries that the school has built over the years.
This year, the school also awarded 13 full doctoral scholarships to promising young researchers.
“In Vietnam and wherever we operate in the world, RMIT University is committed to empowering individuals and communities to thrive and thrive across generations through education, research and community engagement,” said Associate Professor Dr Kok.
He encouraged this year’s scholarship recipients to use the education they will receive from RMIT Vietnam to make a positive impact on their communities and beyond.
“Your journey with RMIT is not only a journey of personal development but also a time to prepare you to make meaningful contributions to society,” Associate Professor Dr. Kok shared.
Over the past 24 years, RMIT University Vietnam has awarded more than VND645 billion in scholarships to 1,880 students with outstanding achievements in the community.
With its continued commitment to investing in its scholarship program, RMIT University Vietnam has once again reaffirmed its leading position in international education in Vietnam. The University’s commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, as well as its focus on inclusion and community impact, is helping to lay the foundation for the future of education in the region.
