With the desire to accompany farmers in developing the economy and getting rich from agriculture, in recent years, veteran Ha Viet Quy has opened a workshop to produce chopsticks, toothpicks, incense sticks... and now black jelly - a Lang Son specialty.
CCB devoted to farmers
Born in 1964, after being discharged from the army and returning to his hometown of Lang Son to develop the economy, veteran Ha Viet Quy always wondered about building a production and processing model to support farmers in consuming agricultural products.
CCB Ha Viet Quy's black jelly products have been exported to markets: America, China, Taiwan...
With the nature of a soldier of Uncle Ho, always caring for the people, for the people; therefore, Mr. Quy always thinks carefully about every action and work, in production and business as well, he does whatever he can to help farmers.
In previous years, realizing the potential of bamboo trees that are abundant in Lang Son province, Mr. Quy opened a factory to produce toothpicks, chopsticks, incense sticks, etc., thereby helping farmers sell their products and create jobs locally.
Along with the development of bamboo and luong production workshops, we realized that in Trang Dinh district, there is a famous black garnet tree, which is widely grown by farmers for economic development.
Through research, it is known that people only dry and sell black jelly raw, so the product is good but the market is still like "Good harvest, low price, good price, bad harvest", so people's lives are still quite precarious.
Concerned with the people growing black jelly in the area, Mr. Quy himself researched, learned, and looked up books about black jelly plants and how to process jelly.
After 3 years of research from valuable documents in the country and abroad, Mr. Quy realized that in addition to being a refreshing, cooling dish in the summer, black jelly is also a very valuable medicinal plant, with many effects in curing many diseases such as: Lowering cholesterol in the blood, anti-aging, detoxifying, treating diseases such as nephritis, arthritis, diabetes, high blood pressure...
Workers check the packaging of black jelly products.
Along with that, Mr. Quy himself went to China, Taiwan... to learn about the black jelly processing line and products made from black jelly.
According to Mr. Quy: The most difficult thing in processing black jelly is separating out toxins, heavy metals, chemical residues, etc. during the growing process.
Therefore, when producing, it is necessary to invest in modern machinery and the worker must be knowledgeable about black jelly, clearly understand the nature of the jelly, from which to build a production process to create the highest quality, most refined product while still retaining the characteristic flavor.
Products with high "gray matter" content
In 2019, CCB Ha Viet Quy established Duc Quy Import-Export Production and Investment Company Limited to open a processing factory with modern, highly automated machinery and production lines from China, Taiwan, etc.
After being harvested and dried, the jelly plant will be washed by machine, then the stem and leaves will be separated and put into a pot to cook with hot steam to extract the jelly. Extract the jelly from the cooking furnace, through the boiler and the furnace with the principle of forming jelly starch, through the conveyor belt to dry and then grind into jelly starch products.
Products are being "Exported" by Duc Quy Production and Import-Export Investment Company Limited
With modern production lines and the understanding of black jelly of CCB Ha Viet Quy after many years of research, Duc Quy Production and Import-Export Investment Company Limited has produced products: Black jelly starch, jelly 25, jelly 30, Kim Quy jelly and jelly powder used in medicine... All are input products in processing food products, treating diseases and beautifying.
The outside of the product is printed with the company name, address, ingredients, instructions for use, date of manufacture and expiry date. At the same time, there is a traceability stamp; in accordance with the laws of the State of Vietnam.
Products manufactured with high "gray matter" content have helped Duc Quy quickly build its brand and dominate the markets of countries such as the US, Taiwan, China, India...
To stabilize the jelly processing factory's production, Duc Quy Company has cooperated with 500 farming households in Trang Dinh district, Lang Son province and Thach An district, Cao Bang province to grow black jelly trees.
Since cooperating with Duc Quy Company, households growing jelly have also been supported with techniques, planting methods and especially have all products purchased. Currently, the Company is purchasing at 38,000 VND/kg of dry jelly, while in 2018 it was only 5,000 VND/kg.
When asked if this was the final product of the black jelly plant, Mr. Quy just smiled and held a book on medicinal herbs and remedies in his hand and shared: Every day I am still researching the black jelly plant and remedies for the jelly plant. Surely in the near future we will have even better products so that the black jelly plant is not only a tree that helps people escape poverty but also a tree that enriches the people in the border area here.
