Pham Thanh Luong's contract with Hanoi FC is still valid until the end of 2023. However, the former midfielder of the Vietnam national team has expressed his intention to retire to the capital team's leadership and has been accepted. After retiring from football, it is known that the player born in 1988 has accepted an invitation to lead Hoa Binh FC (national first division) from the new season. Previously, former player Le Quoc Vuong suddenly said goodbye to Hoa Binh FC at the end of the 2023 season.
Thanh Luong grew up in the training center of Hanoi ACB Club and is one of the best midfielders in Vietnamese football. He played for the Vietnamese national team since 2008 and together with coach Calisto's team won the AFF Cup 2008, after defeating Thailand in the final. He said goodbye to the Vietnamese national team since 2016. Previously, coach Park Hang-seo called Thanh Luong back but he refused because he wanted to give his place to young players.
