HAGL Coach: 'I am very sad, it is really worrying about this failure'
On the afternoon of February 21, in round 14 of V-League 2024-2025, Hanoi FC "paid the debt" they borrowed in the first leg when they defeated HAGL 3-0. The home team played below their best, making many mistakes, including a red card for foreign midfielder Jairo.
This made coach Le Quang Trai disappointed, constantly mentioning the home team's defense. He said: "Congratulations to Hanoi Club. This was a disappointing match for HAGL. The players made many mistakes in situations leading to penalty cards and goals. We will try to work to improve the players' performance. Losing with such a big score makes me very sad. The defense made many mistakes, this is a worrying sign. The absence of Marcel in midfield is one of the reasons, but it must be said that the defense's performance is really low. The mistakes appeared in the first half but it was not until the second half that they were punished."
Trung Kien (number 25) alone is not enough to "save" HAGL.
This strategist added: "HAGL's players are mainly young players, without much experience, so we have to choose a suitable playing style. We have already anticipated that the players will have to make mistakes and receive many penalty cards. V-League has 26 rounds, losing players due to penalty cards or injuries is inevitable. We have to ask the players to play with passion and determination but also limit penalty cards. We will re-evaluate the players to choose personnel for the match against Ho Chi Minh City Club".
Mr. Trai also mentioned the situation where Jairo was sent off: "The referee reviewed VAR and made the final decision. In terms of the law, I think the referee had a reason to show the red card...".
Before that, in the 76th minute of the match, Jairo fouled a Hanoi FC player and received a yellow card. But after reviewing the VAR, referee Nguyen Manh Hai changed the yellow card to a direct red card. At this point, HAGL had only conceded 1 goal.

Coach Teguramori has led two big teams in the Thai League, Chonburi and BG Pathum United. He made a comparison: "The defensive awareness of Vietnamese players is better than that of Thailand. In Thailand, I rate their ability to control the game very well. Many players in Vietnam can do the same, reading the game well."
