During the debate between the two US presidential candidates at CNN headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia on June 27, President Joe Biden mentioned South Korea as an ally that supports US foreign policies in providing financial and military support to Ukraine.
“I have support from 50 countries around the world for Ukraine, including Japan and South Korea, because they understand this chaos is a serious threat to world peace,” Mr. Biden shared during the debate.
The White House boss also said that he had convinced Samsung to invest billions of dollars in the US. To create the chips, the factories spent more than 100,000 USD. "About 40 billion USD was invested and used to build (factories) in the US, creating a large number of jobs for Americans around the world," Mr. Biden said.
South Korea is a close ally of the United States in Northeast Asia. President Joe Biden and his South Korean counterpart Yoon Suk Yeol held bilateral and trilateral meetings (along with Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio) at Camp David, Maryland last August.
