According to the Organizing Committee, the Vietnam Art Photography Competition and Exhibition is held every two years to gather photography creators nationwide; introduce outstanding works of art photography to domestic and international audiences; summarize and evaluate the creative achievements of Vietnamese photographers.
At the launching ceremony, Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong emphasized: The organization of the Vietnam Art Photography Competition and Exhibition in recent years has created healthy professional activities, stimulated creativity; suitable for the mind and needs of creating and publishing works of the photography community; served the public's need to enjoy and appreciate art, and enriched the spiritual life of the people.
The Vietnam Art Photography Competition and Exhibition will encourage artists to create many new works of value in terms of content and art, serving the cultural and spiritual life of the people; contributing to introducing and promoting the image of the country and Vietnamese people to the domestic and international public. The management agency and the Photography industry have an overview, correctly assessing the current situation of Vietnamese photography, the issues of photo creation in recent times, thereby finding the right direction for development and direction for photography in the period of international integration.
The contest is open to professional and non-professional photographers, Vietnamese citizens, Vietnamese people living and working abroad, aged 18 and over. The works reflect life, people, culture, landscapes, nature, efforts in the fight against natural disasters, epidemics, the work of building and defending the Fatherland; issues of contemporary life; thoughts, opinions, ideas about life... and other contents aiming at the values of truth, goodness, and beauty.

The Organizing Committee encourages compositions on the topics of preserving and promoting Vietnamese heritage, Vietnam's integration and development, etc.
According to the Organizing Committee, the new point of the Vietnam Art Photography Competition and Exhibition in 2024 is that it will take place in Hue City. At the same time, the Organizing Committee will organize a creative camp, encourage artists to create about heritage and increase the number of awards.
The photos are in two categories: realistic and conceptual. Realistic photos are works created using traditional, realistic methods; collages or photos that distort reality are not accepted (except for panorama collages). Conceptual photos are created using all technical and technological measures. The Organizing Committee does not accept photos created by artificial intelligence (AI).
Works created from August 2022 to June 2024, are single photos or photo series, color or black and white photos for both realistic and conceptual photography genres.
For single photos, if the author submits both single photos and photo series, the single photos cannot be the same as photos in the series. For photo series, each photo series is considered a work, consisting of 5-6 photos. Single photos of the concept photo and photo series categories must have a caption introducing the content of the work.
Vietnam Art Photography Competition and Exhibition 2024 has many new features
Each author can submit up to 8 works. For photo series, up to 3 photo series for both realistic and conceptual photography categories. The photos submitted to the contest have never been exhibited or won any awards at any national or international competitions organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibitions), Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists.
Contestants submit photos directly to the website: anhnghethuatvietnam2024.vn, from May 2 to July 15, 2024.
