The Nguyen Hoang Street and Huong River overpass project (Hue City) were just technically opened to traffic on March 26.
The project has a total investment of more than 2,280 billion VND, of which phase one investment capital is more than 1,855 billion VND from the central and local budgets (central budget 800 billion VND).
The project started on December 23, 2022, with the contract schedule expected to last 1,090 days. However, with the determination to complete it to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hue Liberation Day, after only nearly 9 months, the project was completed and put into use.
The bridge has a unique design, creating a highlight for the landscape, while contributing to completing the traffic network on both banks of the Huong River.
The idea of designing the bridge with the image of "Crane attending Thien Mu" carries the message of the eternity of a sacred spiritual place where heaven and earth converge and harmonize.
The total length of the bridge is about 643m, of which the length of the bridge is 350m. The main span of the bridge is 180m, with 2 separate steel arches arranged along both sides of the bridge, separating the motor vehicle part from the non-motor vehicle part and the sidewalk.
Nguyen Hoang Bridge is a reinforced concrete bridge, 380m long, 21m wide with 5 girder spans, 43m wide with 6 car lanes, 2 motorbike lanes 3.5m wide, 3.5m wide pedestrian lane. The bridge can clear 6m high boats, and is at least 30m wide.
Starting point at the intersection of Kim Long - Nguyen Phuc Nguyen - Nguyen Hoang streets, Kim Long ward. Ending point at the intersection of Bui Thi Xuan street, Phuong Duc ward, adjacent to the Ring Road 3 project.
On the ground, the sidewalks branch down to the park on both sides of the river by 4 curved bridges. The two intersections at the bridge ends are designed as roundabouts.
The project, when put into use, will contribute to completing the traffic network, preventing traffic jams, reducing traffic on National Highway 1 and inner-city routes through Hue City, creating momentum for socio-economic development, tourism services and improving people's lives.
Nguyen Hoang Bridge across the Huong River connecting Phu Xuan District with Thuan Hoa was technically opened to traffic on the 50th anniversary of Hue City's liberation, the morning of March 26.
Nguyen Hoang is the 8th bridge across the Huong River, after 7 bridges: Truong Tien, Phu Xuan, Da Vien, Bach Ho, Tuan, Cho Dinh and Thao Long. Of these, Bach Ho bridge is for trains and Thao Long has a bridge structure above and a dam below to prevent saltwater intrusion.
