Cultural Festival in Osaka: Reenacting the Ancestor's Death Anniversary and assembling a map of Vietnam

The 2025 Vietnam Cultural Festival in Osaka is not only an opportunity to preserve and spread Vietnamese culture but also a bridge to bring the image of the country and people of Vietnam closer to Japanese friends.

On March 30, in Sakai city, Osaka (Japan), with the sponsorship of the Consulate General of Vietnam in Osaka, the Vietnam-Japan Economic Cooperation Promotion Association organized the "Vietnam Cultural Festival 2025."

Attending the event were Vietnamese Consul General in Japan Ngo Trinh Ha; representative of Sakai city, Director of Sakai City Department of Culture and Tourism, Mr. Yamasaki Hisaki; President of the Vietnamese Association in Kansai region, Ms. Le Thuong; President of the Vietnam-Japan Economic Cooperation Promotion Association, Mr. Vu Hoang Duc...; along with many overseas Vietnamese and Japanese friends.

In his opening speech, Vietnamese Consul General in Osaka, Mr. Ngo Trinh Ha, emphasized that 2025 is a special year for the Vietnamese people with important national celebrations such as the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), the 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2, 1945)...

In that atmosphere, the 2025 Vietnam Cultural Festival in Osaka is not only an opportunity to preserve and spread Vietnamese culture but also a bridge to bring the image of the country and people of Vietnam closer to Japanese friends.

Consul General Ngo Trinh Ha believes that this is an opportunity for the Vietnamese community in Osaka in particular and across Japan in general to meet, exchange, strengthen solidarity and support each other in the process of integration into the host society.

The Consul General stated that the Vietnam-Japan Economic Cooperation Promotion Association, in addition to being an economic bridge between the two countries, is also very active in organizing community activities, including preserving the Vietnamese language and introducing and promoting Vietnamese culture in Japan, such as establishing a Vietnamese Studies Center, organizing Vietnamese language classes, or organizing cultural programs for the community such as the Mid-Autumn Festival, Vietnamese Cultural Day, and especially the meaningful and emotional Vietnamese Cultural Festival in Osaka.

Chairwoman of the Kansai Vietnamese Association, Ms. Le Thuong, said that the 2025 Vietnam Cultural Festival program has many special activities such as the 8th reenactment of the Hung Kings' Commemoration Ceremony in Osaka, forming a map of Vietnam with hundreds of participants, performing traditional costumes, art programs with the participation of famous domestic artists; spaces to promote and introduce Vietnamese products, culinary spaces, folk games...

Mr. Vu Hoang Duc, Chairman of the Vietnam-Japan Economic Cooperation Promotion Association, the event organizer, affirmed that the Association tries its best to promote the image and people of Vietnam not only to the Japanese people but also to international friends.

Representing Sakai City, Director of the Sakai City Department of Culture and Tourism, Mr. Yamasaki Hisaki, on behalf of the Mayor of Sakai City, expressed his warm welcome to the 2025 Vietnam Cultural Festival in Osaka, and thanked the Consulate General of Vietnam in Osaka, associations and overseas Vietnamese in Japan for their efforts in this meaningful cultural event.

Mr. Yamasaki Hisaki said that since establishing a sister city relationship with Da Nang city in February 2019, the exchange and cooperation relationship between Sakai city and Vietnam has grown stronger and expanded in many fields.

He expressed his hope that through the 2025 Vietnam Cultural Festival in Osaka, Japanese people will have the opportunity to deeply feel the culture and charm of Vietnam, contributing to deepening the friendship between Vietnam and Sakai city, as well as between Vietnam and Japan.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, a volunteer at the 2025 Vietnam Cultural Festival in Osaka, expressed her pride in contributing to the meaningful cultural event of Vietnamese people in Osaka.

She believes that the activity of forming a map of Vietnam in Osaka is not only an affirmation of Vietnam's sovereignty but also the sentiment of the Vietnamese community in the Kansai region always towards their homeland and country.

Along with the highlight of the Vietnam map building activity and the reenactment of the Hung Kings' Commemoration Ceremony, the festival introduced many performances such as the performance of 100 ao dai and scarves, and special music and dance performances.

In particular, the festival also received support from domestic artists. People's Artist Thanh Hoa opened the festival with two songs "Lang lua, lang hoa" and "Tau anh qua nui."

The artist group “Nha Tre” from the show “Anh trai vu ngan cong gai” performed about 20 songs, receiving enthusiastic cheers from thousands of Vietnamese and Japanese audiences in Osaka.

The festival ended when the singers and thousands of attendees sang in unison the song "Joining Hands Together."
