Hai Phong: Opening of Cat Ba tourism

Cat Ba Archipelago with many unique values ​​in terms of biodiversity, geomorphology, geology, landscape and pristine, attractive beauty, has been recognized by international organizations and the Government with many noble titles, typically: World Biosphere Reserve in 2004, National Special Scenic Monument in 2013, Lan Ha Bay became a member of the Association of the World's Most Beautiful Bays Club in 2020. In particular, on September 16, 2023, Cat Ba Archipelago along with Ha Long Bay was recognized by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage. Over the years, Cat Hai district has always promoted its potentials and advantages, mobilized resources to build Cat Ba into a National Tourist Area and an International Tourist Center, preserving marine and island ecological diversity.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the program, Chairman of Cat Hai District People's Committee Phan Viet Dien said: Through the Cat Ba Tourism Opening Program in 2025, we aim to introduce and promote the potential, outstanding and distinct strengths of Cat Ba archipelago - a World Natural Heritage, to a large number of people, domestic and international tourists, contributing to stimulating demand and developing Cat Ba tourism to a new level.

Performances at the opening ceremony

In recent days, many festival activities have taken place in Cat Hai island district, including: Mini-field men's football tournament; Workers, Farmers and Soldiers' Singing, Dancing and Music Festival; Men's volleyball tournament; Cat Ba Trade - Tourism - Aquatic Products Exhibition Fair. The Cat Ba Tourism Opening Program and the Cat Ba Amatina Marathon 2025 are among the key activities in the series of activities to celebrate the 66th anniversary of Uncle Ho's visit to Cat Ba fishing village, Cat Hai (March 31, 1959 - March 31, 2025); in response to the 70th anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day and the Red Flamboyant Festival - Hai Phong 2025.

Comrade Le Tien Chau, Secretary of the City Party Committee, along with leaders of departments and branches participated in the Cat Ba Amatina Marathon 2025 at a distance of 10 km.

Right after the Opening Ceremony, the Cat Ba Amatina Marathon 2025 - Heritage Road took place. With a unique cross-island running route, this tournament attracted the participation of more than 1,500 professional and amateur athletes from all over the world to come here to walk on the heritage land. Participating in 3 distances: 21km, 10km, 5km, athletes experienced crossing poetic coastal roads, through lush green primeval forests and reaching the most eye-catching views of the green island of Cat Ba, especially the sunset on Lan Ha Bay.

The tournament attracted the participation of more than 1,500 professional and amateur athletes.

Through this event, the Organizing Committee hopes to spread the message of protecting and promoting the value of the Cat Ba Archipelago World Natural Heritage, promoting the unique tourism potential of the locality to domestic and international friends. At the same time, we hope that each athlete participating in the race will become an ambassador, contributing to introducing the beauty of Cat Ba to the sports and tourism community around the world. This is also a practical activity in response to and welcoming the 2025 Sports Festival at all levels, creating a playground, promoting the movement of training and competing in sports in general and running in particular to develop further in the following years.
