"The day before, the price of goldfish fluctuated from 100,000 - 150,000 VND/kg, but now the good fish is only about 80,000 VND/kg, the worse ones are 40,000 VND/kg. The price of fish depends on each day, but compared to this time, this price is considered cheaper than last year," Ms. Khung shared.
Small traders like Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha (Quang market, Thanh Liet) also came early to choose fish, taking advantage of the low market price. "Every year on December 23, gold carp can reach up to 500,000 VND/kg. Currently, the price of fish is cheap, I came very early to be able to choose the type I like, at a price of about 100,000 VND/kg" - Ms. Ha said.
According to Lao Dong reporters in the early morning of January 31 (December 21), the demand for buying and selling at Yen So fish market from traders and wholesalers was quite high. At times, there were not enough places for people to choose and buy fish despite the cold and rainy weather.
Witnessing the Tet fish market becoming more crowded every year, Mr. Trinh Cao Doan - Deputy Head of Yen So Aquatic Products Cooperative - said: "Not only on Ong Cong Ong Tao day, trading activities at Yen So fish market are still bustling all year round. The supply is sometimes not enough to meet people's needs. If last year the output was about 10 tons, this year it reached 20 tons. Therefore, many traders also want the fish market to expand further to serve the needs of people when they come to buy goods."
