According to the Department of Industry and Trade, the goods market in Thanh Hoa during the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake 2025 remained stable, with no shortages or sudden price increases. Thanks to early stockpiling, the total value of goods serving the Tet holiday in the province was approximately 20,580 billion VND, a 3% increase compared to the same period last year, fully meeting the consumption needs of the people.

Prices of goods before and during Tet (Lunar New Year)
Following the Tet Ong Cong Ong Tao (23rd day of the 12th lunar month), consumer demand surged as most workers began their holiday. Surveys at supermarkets and food stores, along with quick reports from local areas, indicate a 5-8% increase in sales compared to the previous year. Supermarkets such as Go! Thanh Hoa, Co.opmart, and WinMart recorded increases of 6%, 8%, and 7% respectively. However, sales remained lower than inventory levels, as these items are frequently consumed goods and therefore did not significantly impact the businesses of these establishments.
Specifically for flowers and ornamental plants, this year supply exceeded demand, leading to a surplus. By the 29th day of the Lunar New Year, many small traders had to lower prices to recover their capital.
At supermarkets and Winmart+ chain stores, prices remained stable before and during Tet (Lunar New Year) due to effective stockpiling and price stabilization efforts with suppliers and producers. However, at markets and small retail stores, from the 26th to the 29th of Tet, some items saw slight price increases of about 3-5%, such as lean pork, premium beef, chicken, and fresh shrimp and fish... due to increased demand in the days leading up to Tet. Consequently, the price of pork sausage and beef sausage also increased by 5,000-10,000 VND/kg depending on the item and establishment. However, at markets in the days leading up to Tet, the price of green vegetables decreased sharply by 25-40% because vegetables were ready for harvest, and the warm, humid weather before Tet allowed vegetables and tubers to grow quickly.
During Tet (from the 1st to the 3rd day), prices of basic goods remained stable and unchanged compared to the period before Tet. Only some fresh food items increased by about 10-20% compared to pre-Tet prices, such as: lean pork loin from 130,000 to 150,000 VND/kg, premium beef from 260,000 to 300,000 VND/kg, chicken at 120,000 VND/kg... Food and beverage service prices increased 1.5-2 times compared to before Tet due to the limited number of food establishments open. However, the price increase was accepted by consumers and considered an annual occurrence.
Post-Tet market: Business returns to normal.
From the 4th day of Tet (February 1st, 2025), most businesses in Thanh Hoa have reopened. Large retail chains such as Go, CoopMart, The City, WinMart, MediaMart... have prepared to serve customers' shopping needs.
People are returning to shopping after the Lunar New Year holiday.
However, the post-Tet market is expected to be less vibrant, mainly focusing on fresh food and offerings for the New Year. Packaged items such as confectionery, beverages, and processed foods will maintain stable prices without major fluctuations. Vegetables and fruits will continue to hold stable prices compared to the first and second days of Tet, but have decreased significantly compared to before Tet. Only a few items will see slight increases, including carp, beef, seafood... and some essential goods before the full moon of the first lunar month, after which prices will return to normal.
Overall, the goods market in Thanh Hoa remained stable throughout the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday, with no price spikes or shortages. Market regulation was well-managed, ensuring the consumption needs of the people were met throughout the Tet holiday and the first days of the new year.
