Not only a dedicated union official, Ms. Pham Thi Dieu Minh - Head of the Women's Union of Quang Binh Radio and Television Station is also an inspiration with large-scale volunteer activities, contributing to changing perceptions about the role of women in social work.

Impressions from the "Zero-dong Market"

One of the most resonant and influential programs initiated by Ms. Minh and the Women's Union is the "Zero-VND Market", held annually in mountainous and border villages.

After 5 years of implementation, the program has mobilized nearly 3 billion VND in cash and goods, supporting thousands of households in difficult circumstances, especially women and children in Truong Son (Quang Ninh district), Lam Thuy (Le Thuy district), Thuong Trach (Bo Trach district), Lam Hoa (Tuyen Hoa district) and Thuong Hoa (Minh Hoa district).

The "Zero-dong market" is not only a place to provide necessities for people in difficult areas, but also brings joy and sharing during the days before Tet.

Sharing about the program, Ms. Minh said that this is a large-scale program, requiring careful preparation from many stages. With the participation of hundreds of partners, dozens of booths fully allocated with daily life items, especially goods for Lunar New Year, we must ensure the program takes place effectively and orderly.

“In addition to calling for sponsorship, the women in the committee spent a lot of time designing each booth, from naming, creating slogans, decorating, to preparing thank-you letters to send to benefactors to show gratitude and create long-term connections,” said Ms. Minh.

In particular, the program also includes activities to promote environmental protection awareness, such as encouraging people to use baskets instead of plastic bags, along with performances by singers from inside and outside the province, helping to improve the spiritual life of the people.

“Despite being busy with work at the end of the year, the women still arranged their tasks, overcoming hundreds of kilometers of steep mountain passes to the village. When witnessing the joy of the people, we realized that women can do everything, even miracles, when given the opportunity to express themselves and when we love the meaningful work we are doing,” Ms. Minh shared.

With its strong spread, the program was voted as one of the 20 typical good deeds of Women in the province in 2023.

Empowering Women in Social Work

Not only stopping at volunteer work, Ms. Minh also promotes emulation movements among female union members, civil servants and workers. Activities such as "Good at public work, good at housework", associated with the movement "Building Quang Binh women of the new era", have helped many women affirm their roles, both completing their professional work well and actively participating in community activities.

Ms. Minh herself and many colleagues have won many high awards at national journalism awards, contributing to improving the position of women in the media field.

She also called for the establishment of the Women's Charity Fund. In 3 years, the fund has saved more than 40 million VND, helping poor students in remote areas and supporting female workers in difficult circumstances.

With her continuous contributions, Ms. Minh herself was honored as an Outstanding Female Trade Union Officer for the third time in 2024, selected by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.

Not only is she an exemplary union official, Ms. Minh is also a symbol of dedication and responsibility, inspiring and promoting the role of women in social work, contributing to creating good values ​​in the community.
