The above information was provided by Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Binh, Deputy Head of the Road and Railway Traffic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police (PC08) at the "Conference to launch the implementation of the propaganda campaign combined with patrolling, controlling and handling speed violations in Ho Chi Minh City in 2023" organized by the City Traffic Safety Committee on the afternoon of June 13.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Binh, statistics in the first 5 months of the year, the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police force handled more than 44,000 speeding violations, accounting for 17% of the number of detected and handled traffic violations in the entire city.
In the coming time, PC08 will base on the plan issued by the HCM City Traffic Safety Committee to advise the HCM City Police Department's Board of Directors to develop a plan to deploy patrols, control, and handle violations of speed regulations in HCM City.
“We will divide it into two phases: from June 13 to before July 1, we will conduct propaganda; from July 1 onwards, we will patrol, control and handle.
In particular, the Traffic Police force is the core to advise and coordinate with the Traffic Safety Committee to effectively implement the project to reduce traffic accidents related to speeding violations as well as ensure traffic safety on the road, helping people travel safely and happily," emphasized Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Binh.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Loi, Deputy Head of the Traffic Safety Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, said that this campaign is part of a series of activities responding to the "Global Road Safety Week" in Ho Chi Minh City in 2023.
The campaign includes propaganda and enforcement activities. Specifically, propaganda activities will be carried out from June 13 to August 31 on media, websites and social networking platforms; video clips will be disseminated at passenger transport units, bus stations, hospitals, schools, student dormitories, and worker accommodation areas; events with the theme "Safe Crossing the Road" will be organized at one of the primary schools participating in the "Safe Schools" project...
Meanwhile, the enforcement work was planned and implemented by the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police and districts from July 1 to August 31.
The Deputy Head of the Traffic Safety Committee of the City requested the Vietnam Fatherland Front of the City and its member organizations as well as units and localities to develop a plan to propagate the message "Please obey the prescribed speed" and warn "The higher the driving speed, the higher the risk of collision and the more serious the consequences";
The Campaign's message aims to raise awareness among traffic participants and contribute to reducing traffic collisions related to speeding violations.
