Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit has a special significance as it takes place on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Türkiye diplomatic relations and the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Turkey.

According to a joint statement between the two countries, this important visit aims to strengthen the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Türkiye, exchange views on bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues.
The two sides expressed their delight at the positive developments in bilateral relations. In a friendly, open and sincere atmosphere, the two sides reaffirmed their determination to continue to enhance exchanges and contacts at all levels and channels to further promote friendship and expand existing cooperation in many fields, including coordination and mutual support at international forums.
Vietnam expressed its deep condolences to the Government and people of Türkiye over the great losses caused by the February earthquake and admired the efforts and strong will of the Government and people of Türkiye in overcoming the consequences of the natural disaster.
Türkiye highly appreciated Vietnam's valuable support to overcome the consequences of the earthquake, including sending 100 soldiers to participate in search and rescue as well as financial support from the Government and the Vietnam Red Cross Society with a total amount equivalent to 900,000 USD.
The two sides acknowledged the importance of cooperation in other areas such as trade, investment, tourism, culture, sports, science and technology, education, civil aviation, agriculture, defense, security as well as consular affairs.
Regarding economic and trade cooperation, the two sides agreed to closely coordinate to achieve the goal of raising trade turnover to 4 billion USD through enhancing trade promotion, connecting businesses and resolving trade problems.
Vietnam welcomes and encourages Turkish companies to invest in Vietnam in the fields of industry, high-tech agriculture, green economy, innovation, renewable energy, infrastructure, logistics, etc. Especially the project to build a passenger terminal at Long Thanh International Airport, which is being carried out by a consortium led by a Turkish company.
The official welcoming ceremony for Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh was hosted by Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz.
The two sides acknowledged the potential for cooperation in the agricultural sector and committed to discuss in more detail the acceleration of relevant approval procedures to enhance the import and export of agricultural and animal products. The two sides agreed to continue supporting the development of the Halal industry in Vietnam through experience sharing and capacity building.
Opening of Turkish Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City
In order to comprehensively discuss economic cooperation, the two sides expressed their desire to hold the next meeting of the Joint Commission on Economic and Trade Affairs in the first quarter of 2024 in Ankara.
The two sides stressed their desire to attract and facilitate Vietnamese and Turkish tourists to visit each other, agreed to exchange views on enhancing cooperation in the tourism sector and towards encouraging cooperation in the private sector through organizing and participating in fairs, seminars and workshops.
The two sides also agreed to strengthen cooperation in the field of civil aviation to promote tourism and trade; and agreed to open a Turkish Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City.
Appreciating the potential for cooperation in the defense industry, the two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in this field; cooperate in the fight against crime, especially transnational crime, organized crime and terrorism in all forms and manifestations, including information exchange and experience sharing...
In particular, Vietnam and Türkiye acknowledged the importance of upgrading the friendship and cooperation relationship to a new partnership framework. Turkish leaders affirmed that they welcomed Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit to Türkiye as an important milestone in the bilateral relationship.
