The trips of senior Vietnamese leaders to Europe, Asia, America and Africa in 2024 have shown a vibrant year in foreign affairs.

1. Among the foreign trips of high-ranking Vietnamese leaders, we must mention the State visit of General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife from August 18 to 20. A visit that, as affirmed by Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son, is "a particularly important foreign activity between Vietnam and China this year. The visit was a great success in all aspects, contributing significantly to the building of the Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance, contributing to peace, stability and development of the region and the world."

Only two days with 18 extremely rich and meaningful activities. In particular, the two sides reached a broad common understanding on further strengthening the Vietnam - China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership in the direction of "6 more". This is a very important orientation to determine the cooperation orientations between the two sides in the coming time such as: Maintaining strategic exchanges between the high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and two countries, consolidating the foundation of political trust, jointly orienting the building of a Vietnam - China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance; fully promoting the role of the Party channel, the mechanisms of the Cooperation Committee between the National Assembly of Vietnam and the National People's Congress of China, of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Chinese National People's Political Consultative Conference, and defense, security and diplomatic exchange mechanisms.

Bringing substantive cooperation between the two countries to new progress; facilitating trade, expanding the export of Vietnamese agricultural and aquatic products to the Chinese market; promoting the connection of development strategies between the two countries, effectively implementing the Cooperation Plan connecting the framework of “Two Corridors, One Belt” with the “Belt and Road” initiative and enhancing cooperation in multilateral forums...

Immediately after being elected by the National Assembly as President, President Luong Cuong made his first foreign trip in his new position: an official visit to the Republic of Chile; an official visit to the Republic of Peru and attendance at the 2024 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit Week in Lima, Peru. Notably, during his trip to distant South America, the new President attended APEC for the first time as a head of state. At this forum, on behalf of the Party and State of Vietnam, the President suggested three major orientations to further enhance the role and position of APEC, such as: continuing to promote trade and investment liberalization; promoting cooperation programs and initiatives on inclusive growth; and continuously improving institutional capacity and global governance.

Within the framework of the Forum, the President also delivered a speech at the APEC 2024 Business Summit, highlighting the great changes in the world and the contributions of APEC - with 21 member economies, accounting for about 52% of the world's territory, 39% of the population, 70% of the world's natural resources, contributing about 59% of global GDP and nearly 48% of world trade.

2. Before that, there was another very notable visit, which was the visit to India by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh from July 30 to August 1. In just two days, the Prime Minister had a dense, rich, and diverse working program, with about 25 activities, including talks and meetings with senior Indian leaders, major Indian corporations, and speeches at the Vietnam - India Business Forum and the Indian Council for International Affairs. India and Vietnam established a comprehensive strategic partnership 8 years ago. During this visit, the two sides issued a Joint Statement on strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, signed 9 documents in the fields of diplomacy, defense, finance, health, culture, tourism, and human resource training, including the Action Program to implement the comprehensive strategic partnership for the period 2024 - 2028.

Near the end of 2024, the official visit of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife along with the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly to Singapore and Japan from December 1 and 7 was considered a very successful visit; especially in strengthening and deepening the relationship between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Singaporean and Japanese parliaments.

3. The above trips among dozens of trips by senior leaders in 2024 are just specific examples to show that we have built not only friendly relations but also friendly relationships with many partner countries and many international organizations.

The visits of high-ranking Vietnamese leaders have shown a very clear reality: Vietnam's position and prestige are increasingly enhanced in the international arena. We are increasingly participating more deeply in multilateral mechanisms from the United Nations, ASEAN, APEC, BRICS, AIPA. At multilateral forums, Vietnamese heads of state and high-ranking leaders are invited to speak and the issues that Vietnamese leaders mention are all major issues of global significance. In particular, it shows that Vietnam always places itself in the operation of this vibrant world and Vietnam's contributions are aimed at a world where peace, stability and development are the goals that we aim for and the world aims for.

True to the Party and State's steadfast foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification, being a friend, a reliable partner, an active and responsible member of the international community. At the same time, firmly upholding the stance, viewpoint and practicing the art of diplomacy in the new era, demonstrating the character of the Vietnamese people "Remaining steadfast, responding to all changes", "peaceful and filial". Strengthening Vietnam's practical contributions to maintaining peace, stability and development in the region and the world.

Vietnam has strategic partnerships with 19 countries in the world, including: Russia, India, China, Japan, South Korea, Spain, UK, Germany, Italy, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, France, Malaysia, Philippines, Australia, New Zealand, USA, Brazil.

Of these, 9 countries are comprehensive strategic partners: China, the Russian Federation, India, South Korea, the United States, Japan, Australia, France and Malaysia.

In particular, it shows that Vietnam always places itself in the operation of this vibrant world and Vietnam's contributions are aimed at a world where peace, stability and development are the goals we aim for and the world aims for.
