Despite these efforts, the technology has yet to be fully realized on smartphones. However, that could soon change thanks to new technology introduced by Infinix at MWC 2025 in Barcelona, Spain.

Dubbed “Solar Energy Storage Technology,” Infinix’s technology uses perovskite photovoltaic minerals combined with artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms to optimize energy harvesting from ambient light. The system is capable of harvesting light from both indoors and outdoors, storing energy in smartphones and phone cases. Energy is transmitted to the device through separate contact points with a storage capacity of up to 2W.

While 2W may not seem like an impressive number, it is an important start. If this technology is developed, it could bring great value to users, helping them no longer have to worry about their phone running out of battery when they are away from a charger.

Another highlight of the technology is the AI-powered Sunflower wireless charging feature, which is designed to optimize power delivery based on lighting conditions and the device’s location. The system not only regulates voltage and current, but also prevents overheating and degradation, and provides emergency power in the event of a power outage.

Not limited to smartphones

In addition to smartphones, Infinix also plans to apply this technology to many other digital devices and wearables, thereby opening up great potential for the future.

In addition to the power improvements, Infinix also introduced the E-Color Shift 2.0 feature that allows the smartphone to automatically adjust the back color based on user preferences and environmental factors. Users can choose from a variety of dynamic patterns and color palettes or use the AI recognition mode to automatically adjust the color.

While both Solar Storage Technology and E-Color Shift 2.0 are still in development, they represent Infinix’s long-term vision. These advancements will form the basis for the Infinix Note 50 series, which the company plans to launch by the end of March 2025.
