This year, the award attracts 121 works/series of works composed, completed or published between January 1, 2022 and April 20, 2023. These are works submitted by authors or nominated by publishers nationwide and members of the Preliminary Jury.
Through 2 rounds of judging from April 25 to May 11, the preliminary judging panel of 8 members discussed and scored to select the top 10 best works for the final round, including 7 short stories/series of short stories, 1 picture book, 1 poetry collection and 1 series of pictures.

This year, there are works by two young authors, namely "Me, my father, and…" and "From the letters" (manuscript of two short stories by Doan Lu Thuy Phuong, 10 years old, Hanoi) and a series of paintings by Hoang Nhat Quang (11 years old, Lang Son).
The preliminary jury highly appreciated the talent and professional creative qualities that were soon revealed in these two authors.
In addition, the top 10 also includes the following works: “Hello, is that you?” (novel by Tran Duc Tien, illustrated by Kim Duan, Kim Dong Publishing House); “The forest in a bottle” (picture book by Huynh Trong Khang-Nguyen Nhan, The Gioi Publishing House); “The two-whirlwind calf” (novel by Pham Anh Xuan, Literature Publishing House); “The cats of Mr. Cabbage” (novel manuscript by Nguyen Thi Cam Ha); “Mr. Ba Bi and the children in the dream” (novel manuscript by Lac An, Kim Dong Publishing House); “In a place with many dragons” (novel manuscript by Moc An); “The witch is afraid of ghosts” (poem by Thuy Anh, illustrated by Kim Duan, Kim Dong Publishing House); “The goose king of the lake village” (novel manuscript, Uong Trieu).
The top 10 also includes the work of Moc An, the author who made it to the final round of the 3rd De Men Award in 2022 with the work "If One Day We Disappear."
The 4th De Men Children's Awards Ceremony 2023 will take place on June 1 in Hanoi.
The De Men Children's Award is an annual art award founded by the Sports and Culture newspaper since 2020 to award outstanding artistic compositions and performances by or for children. The award categories include: 1 Grand Prize named Cricket Knight and a number of equal prizes named Cricket Desire. Over the past 3 seasons, 1 Cricket Knight prize has been awarded to writer Nguyen Nhat Anh (2020) and 14 Cricket Desire prizes have been awarded to domestic and foreign artists, including 4 child authors. |
