Continue to preserve important relics
Implementing the plan to restore and embellish relics in the province in the period of 2024-2028, Dong Nai will restore many works of historical and cultural value. In particular, on March 12, the cultural sector had a meeting with the People's Committee of Nhon Trach district to approve the Phu My Communal House Restoration Project, Phu Hoi commune. The relic was ranked as a provincial-level historical - architectural and artistic relic by the Provincial People's Committee in 2005 and was included by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in the list of proposals to upgrade national relics in the period of 2025-2030 in Dong Nai province.
The main items of Phu My communal house relic include: front hall, main hall, guest house, kitchen with natural wooden structure. The column bases and column heads have been severely damaged by moisture and termites, the natural stone pedestals have inconsistent sizes and heights. The main components of the wooden frame such as columns and rafters are 65% damaged, affecting the load-bearing capacity of the structure. The Ong - Ba temple is built with brick walls, a set of rafters, wooden rafters, and a roof covered with yin-yang tiles that have deteriorated and are leaking.
The consulting unit, Dong Do Thanh Company Limited, has proposed a plan to restore and embellish the Phu My communal house items. In particular, the altar system, worship objects, relics and artifacts will be moved to a suitable location in the premises so that worship can continue during the restoration and embellishment process. At the same time, the entire eaves system, the roof covered with Western tiles, yin and yang tiles and terracotta tiles will be dismantled; the entire load-bearing wooden frame structure and roof structure system will be dismantled, and the original tiled floor will be preserved... The restoration and embellishment will be carried out on the principle of complying with the Law on Cultural Heritage and related laws.
Recently, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Hong An has sent a report to the Department of Finance on the proposed investment policy for the project to restore and embellish the Relic Site of the Establishment of Group 125 - the predecessor of the Cambodian National Salvation Armed Forces, Cam My District. The project investment plan is expected to be from 2025-2026 with a total cost of more than 5.7 billion VND from the provincial budget.
In the roadmap for restoration and embellishment of relics in the 2024-2028 period in the province, Deputy Head of the Department of Culture, Science and Information of Bien Hoa city, Truong Ngoc Thanh, proposed that the City People's Committee assign the People's Committees of Hiep Hoa, Tan Van and Buu Long wards to preside over and coordinate with the Board of Trustees of Thanh Hung communal house, Tran Ngoc Du ancient house, the Board of Trustees of Buu Phong pagoda and specialized agencies, consulting units to conduct surveys and assess the current status of the relics; at the same time, carry out technical economic reports, procedures for relic restoration steps in accordance with regulations, and report to the City People's Committee for comments before March 20, 2025.
Establishing provincial relic ranking records
In parallel with the restoration work, Dong Nai Museum is preparing a dossier to propose ranking as a provincial relic for Tap Phuoc - Phuoc Hoa communal house (in Long Phuoc commune, Long Thanh district).

According to the elders, Tap Phuoc - Phuoc Hoa communal house was initially built as a small main hall. In 1947, the French colonialists dismantled the communal house, and the royal decree given to the communal house was also lost. In 1954, the people of Tap Phuoc village rebuilt the communal house on a small scale on the old foundation. In 1963, the communal house was rebuilt on a new location in Phuoc Hoa hamlet.
After many times of restoration and embellishment, Tap Phuoc - Phuoc Hoa communal house has the appearance as it is today with the traditional architecture of Southern village communal houses. Every year, the communal house organizes the Ky Yen festival on the 15th and 16th of December. This is a religious establishment closely associated with the spiritual life of local people. Currently, the communal house is being researched and a scientific dossier is being prepared to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration of ranking as a provincial relic. Thereby, helping this work have the opportunity to be better preserved, attract the attention of the community and promote its cultural and historical values.
With the determination to preserve and promote the value of heritage, from restoration, embellishment to compiling records of relics, Dong Nai is gradually affirming its role as a land rich in tradition, a place that preserves important historical marks of the country. When relics are well protected and promoted, the locality will have more attractive destinations, attracting domestic and foreign tourists, contributing to promoting socio-economic development.
