Police investigate principal's case of declaring 3 times higher price of sunshade

Bo Trach District Police (Quang Binh) have investigated information related to the case of the principal declaring the price of sun-protection tarpaulins three times higher than the price surveyed by parents at Ly Trach Primary School.

On November 5, Bo Trach District Police confirmed that the agency had begun investigating issues related to the case of the principal of Ly Trach Primary School declaring the price of sun-blocking tarpaulins three times higher than the price surveyed by parents.

The verification is carried out based on the content published by Tuoi Tre Online newspaper. The investigation agency will work with relevant people to determine whether there are any irregularities in the collection and disbursement of socialized funds as well as other amounts of money.

"We consider the content reported by Tuoi Tre Online newspaper as a source of information about signs of violations, so we proactively sent officers to immediately verify," said the leader of Bo Trach District Police.

Regarding the incident, Mr. Vo Hai Quan, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Bo Trach district, said that the district police had come to work with this unit to collect information related to revenue and expenditure at Ly Trach Primary School.

Previously, the department also worked with the school. "At first, through a preliminary check of revenue and expenditure, Ly Trach Primary School is quite secure in terms of records and documents. However, the issue of sun-blocking canvas prices is related to the market, so determining right and wrong is beyond our authority. This must be done by the inspection agency and the police," said Mr. Quan.

As reported by Tuoi Tre Online , many parents whose children study at Ly Trach Primary School (Ly Trach Commune, Bo Trach, Quang Binh) have sent a petition to the authorities to request clarification of the unusual signs of the school's principal when using socialized money contributed by parents to install a sunshade system for classrooms.

The total amount of money parents contribute is about 124 million VND (after deducting exemptions).

Ms. Cao Thi My Thuyet, the school principal, declared to the parents' association that this project was constructed by Phu Quoc Production and Trading Company Limited with a total cost of more than 122 million VND. The unit price according to the construction contract is 630,000 VND/ ^m2 .

However, the unit price that parents surveyed for similar products at many units in the area was less than one-third of the price declared by the principal.

And Phu Quoc Production and Trading Company Limited also quoted prices from only 180,000 - 200,000 VND/ ^m2 .
