VN-Index has just experienced its second consecutive week of decline in both liquidity and points. Most industry groups have adjusted, but Vingroup stocks continue to go against the trend.
The market price of VIC stock alone increased by nearly 10% last week and by more than 40% after 1 month. Thanks to that, shareholders holding this stock have increased their assets rapidly.
Updated from Forbes , as of March 29, the net worth of Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong - chairman of Vingroup - reached 7.5 billion USD, an increase of 3.4 billion USD compared to the beginning of the year.
Forbes' way of calculating assets for the world's richest people is based on many factors. Among them, assets through stock holdings is an important criterion.
As Vingroup shares skyrocketed, Mr. Vuong's assets grew rapidly. Currently, billionaire Vuong holds 691.27 million VIC shares, equivalent to about 18% of the group's charter capital. The rest, Mr. Vuong owns through his own companies.
In addition, Mr. Vuong also holds a large amount of VinFast shares through his own companies and is the general director of this electric car company. Meanwhile, according to Companiesmarketcap, VinFast is currently in the top 10 largest electric car companies in the world with a capitalization of nearly 8 billion USD.
Notably, since the beginning of this year, Vingroup’s chairman has climbed more than 300 places on the world’s richest list. Currently, Mr. Vuong is in 414th place, surpassing Mr. Donald Trump and billionaire George Soros, both in the US.
As of March 29, 2025, billionaire George Soros has a net worth of 7.2 billion USD, ranking 443rd on the rich list.
George Soros is an American Jewish investor and founder of the legendary hedge fund Soros Quantum Fund.
He became known to the world after the 1992 British pound crash, a historic event that shook global financial markets. Investors later called him "Wizard of Wall Street".
The increase in VIC shares not only helped Mr. Vuong surpass many famous American billionaires when comparing net worth, but also brought Vingroup's market capitalization to a record high.
At the end of last week's session, VIC's capitalization exceeded VND221,000 billion (USD8.7 billion), surpassing FPT to become the largest private enterprise on the stock exchange.
