On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024) and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2024), on the morning of December 14, in Vi Thanh city, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man visited and congratulated officers and soldiers of the Military Command of Hau Giang province.
The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that through 80 years of building, fighting and growing, the Vietnam People's Army has built a precious and glorious tradition of "Loyalty to the Party, filial piety to the people, ready to fight and sacrifice for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, for socialism. Every task is completed, every difficulty is overcome, every enemy is defeated."
The National Assembly Chairman expressed his joy at witnessing the development of Hau Giang province after more than 20 years of re-establishment. In 2024, the province's GRDP is expected to reach 8.76%; budget revenue will reach 7,520 billion VND, an increase of 23.52% - a high increase in the Mekong Delta region and the whole country. Currently, Hau Giang has 42/51 new rural communes, accounting for 82.35%...
In that common achievement, the National Assembly Chairman clearly stated the important contribution of the provincial armed forces.
The National Assembly Chairman said that at the 7th and 8th Sessions, the National Assembly reviewed and amended many important laws, including 3 laws related to the defense sector: Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Officers of the Vietnam People's Army; Law on Defense Industry, Security and Industrial Mobilization and Law on People's Air Defense. In particular, the National Assembly amended the housing policy for officers and soldiers.
In the Resolution on piloting the implementation of commercial housing projects through agreements on receiving land use rights or having land use rights, the National Assembly also gives priority to officers and soldiers of the armed forces.
The National Assembly Chairman hopes that Hau Giang province will continue to concretize the Resolutions of the Party and the National Assembly on taking care of local military forces from the province, district to commune level to truly be an elite, clean, and strong force, meeting the requirements of building and protecting the Fatherland in the new situation.
To the officers and soldiers of the Military Command of Hau Giang province, the National Assembly Chairman suggested promoting the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers," raising revolutionary vigilance, detecting plots and tricks of hostile forces, advising the Party and State on early and remote preventive measures to fulfill the task of building and protecting the Fatherland.
The National Assembly Chairman noted that Hau Giang province and the Hau Giang Provincial Military Command should pay attention to implementing the military rear policy well; take care of the families of officers and soldiers facing difficulties; and continue to build an elite, modern force to meet the current requirements and situation to protect the Fatherland.
2025 is the year of Party Congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Party Congress, and is also the year of preparation for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
The National Assembly Chairman requested Hau Giang province and officers and soldiers of the armed forces to strictly follow the direction of the Politburo and the Central Committee on organizing Party Congresses at all levels, along with streamlining the organizational apparatus.
On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man presented 20 gifts to officers and employees working at the Provincial Military Command and 30 gifts to veterans in difficult circumstances./.
