On the evening of December 29, at Ngo Mon Square, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thua Thien Hue province held a ceremony to announce the Resolution of the National Assembly on the establishment of Hue City directly under the Central Government and the Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the arrangement of district- and commune-level administrative units of Hue City in the 2023-2025 period.

On November 30, 2024, the National Assembly passed Resolution 175 on the establishment of Hue City directly under the Central Government and Resolution 1314 of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the arrangement of district and commune-level administrative units of Hue City in the period of 2023-2025; the resolutions take effect from January 1, 2025. This is a major event, marking an important turning point in the process of construction and development of the province; demonstrating the achievements, realization of goals and aspirations of the Party Committee, government and people of Thua Thien Hue through the periods. Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Le Truong Luu, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Party Committee affirmed: As a land of culture, with a rich history, unique culture and heroic revolutionary traditions, through many ups and downs, Hue still retains its strong vitality; always preserve, promote and spread the precious traditions with the system of cultural values, the system of human values ​​that have been built up through the history of Thuan Hoa - Phu Xuan land. Becoming a city directly under the Central Government, Hue City has entered a new stage, the stage of construction and development with the mindset of being the first cultural heritage city of Vietnam. National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man requested that in the coming time, the Party Committee and the government of Hue City have specific, clear and feasible plans to solve difficulties and challenges. Focus on prioritizing economic restructuring associated with in-depth growth model innovation; prioritize the development of advantageous service sectors; develop tourism based on the promotion of heritage and cultural values; develop industry in the direction of increasing added value, high technology content, and environmental friendliness; develop high-tech, sustainable agriculture, adapting to climate change. Pay special attention to implementing science and technology innovation policies towards green development to meet the goals set out in national strategies and programs on environmental protection, green growth, and the use of clean technology; regularly pay attention to socio-economic development in ethnic minority areas, mountainous areas, and areas affected by natural disasters and climate change.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man hopes that by 2030, Hue City will be one of the major and unique centers of Southeast Asia in terms of culture, tourism and specialized healthcare; one of the major centers of the country in terms of science-technology, multi-disciplinary, multi-field, high-quality education and training according to the orientation in Resolution 54 dated December 10, 2019 of the Politburo.
