On March 24, Chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hoang Giang signed an official dispatch to functional units to direct the investment in new construction, repair of office buildings and purchase of fixed assets.

The official dispatch of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee clearly stated that the construction, repair and upgrading of new offices and cultural institutions at the district and commune levels (except for traffic and irrigation works serving people's lives and production) must be temporarily suspended.

At the same time, temporarily suspend the implementation of general planning for commune construction, district construction planning, and fixed asset procurement for district and commune levels until there is a new policy. In case of real necessity, it is necessary to report for consideration and resolution.

For projects that are suspended but are still in progress, agencies, units and localities will coordinate with specialized agencies to propose reasonable technical stopping points, ensuring project safety and avoiding waste of invested assets. Before April 5, units will summarize the implementation status and report to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and direction.

Before March 28, the Provincial People's Committee requests the Department of Finance to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Construction and relevant agencies and units to complete the consultation with the Provincial People's Committee on appropriate handling plans, ensuring compliance with regulations and in accordance with reality, effectively using public assets; urgently advise on handling directions for old redundant offices and land after rearrangement.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested units to closely follow Resolution 18 and promptly complete projects to rearrange and merge organizational apparatus and administrative units at district and commune levels on schedule.

According to the policy, Quang Ngai will merge and reduce the number of communes by more than 70%. The province agreed to reduce from 170 communes to a maximum of 42 communes. The merger of communes is noted by the locality to take into account the specificity of spatial planning for development, culture, etc.
