On the afternoon of May 24, President Vo Van Thuong received the Ambassadors of Qatar, Brazil, Slovenia, Portugal, Estonia and Guinea who came to present their credentials to take up their working term in Vietnam.

The President suggested that the two sides closely coordinate at international organizations and forums, promote the implementation of commitments agreed upon by the two countries' leaders, boost economic-trade, investment, oil and gas, and energy cooperation, and facilitate the export of Vietnamese agricultural products to Qatar.
The Qatari Ambassador hopes that the two sides will sign many important cooperation agreements in the coming time, affirming that he will strive to make Vietnam a source of human resources and agricultural products for Qatar.
Receiving Mr. Marco Farani, Brazilian Ambassador presenting his credentials, President Vo Van Thuong affirmed that Vietnam always wishes to strengthen relations with Brazil - a leading important partner in Latin America. Considering that the current two-way trade turnover of nearly 7 billion USD is modest compared to the potential for cooperation, the President suggested that the two sides soon organize the 3rd meeting of the Joint Committee to promote economic, trade and investment cooperation.

The President suggested that Brazil promote negotiations to sign a free trade agreement between Vietnam and the Southern Common Market, increase delegation exchanges, and promote exchanges in the fields of culture, sports, and people-to-people exchanges.
Receiving credentials from Slovenian Ambassador Alenka Suhadolnik, President Vo Van Thuong emphasized that Vietnam and Slovenia have many similarities in development, suggesting that the two countries need to review and re-evaluate existing cooperation mechanisms, establish new cooperation mechanisms, especially in seaports, energy, green economy and digital transformation, and exploit cooperation potentials more substantially.

The President also thanked Slovenia for supporting Vietnam in the process of negotiating and signing the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement, and asked Slovenia to soon complete the procedures for ratifying the Vietnam-EU Investment Protection Agreement.
Receiving Portuguese Ambassador Joao Weinstein after presenting his credentials, President Vo Van Thuong was pleased to see that two-way trade turnover has made important progress, with the first quarter of this year increasing by more than 10% compared to 2022. The President suggested that the two sides continue to promote tourism cooperation, cultural exchange, people-to-people exchanges, and focus on establishing cooperative relations and twinning between localities such as Ho Chi Minh City and Porto.

The Portuguese Ambassador pledged to make efforts to promote cooperation with Vietnam in renewable energy and education and training, and prepare well for the celebration of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries next year.
Presenting his credentials to President Vo Van Thuong, Estonian Ambassador Hannes Hanso expressed his desire to share experiences with Vietnam in building e-Government - a strength of Estonia, saying that Estonia has up to 3,600 services provided online and this is a tool to increase the efficiency of government operations as well as minimize corruption.

Along with promoting cooperation in digital transformation and building e-Government, President Vo Van Thuong suggested that Estonia promote cooperation with Vietnam in education and training, and lobby the European Commission to remove the yellow card on Vietnam's seafood exports.
Receiving credentials from Guinean Ambassador Aminata Koita, President Vo Van Thuong hoped that the two sides would make efforts to promote cooperation in areas commensurate with the 65-year cooperative relationship, and Guinea was the first African country to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam.

The Guinean Ambassador affirmed that the important goal of her term is to promote cooperation with Vietnam in the agricultural sector. The President also hoped that the Ambassador would spend more time working and visiting localities to experience the Vietnamese spirit of wanting to be friends and reliable partners with all countries.
On this occasion, through the Ambassadors, President Vo Van Thuong also requested countries to continue to speak out strongly to ensure the rule of law in seas and oceans, contributing to maintaining peace, stability, freedom, safety, and maritime and aviation security in the East Sea, and supporting the stance of Vietnam and ASEAN on resolving disputes by peaceful means on the basis of international law.
