On the afternoon of May 16, the People's Court of Binh Phuoc province opened a first-instance trial and sentenced Tran Minh Duc (37 years old) to 20 years in prison and Anh Thi My Linh (25 years old, Duc's wife, both residing in Dong Phu district, Binh Phuoc) to 17 years in prison for illegal drug trafficking.

According to the indictment, on November 25, 2021, Binh Phuoc Police coordinated with Dong Xoai City Police to inspect a car stopped at 23.3 Square (Tan Phu Ward, Dong Xoai City) and discovered Duc sitting in the car with a set of tools for using crystal meth and a number of sealed nylon bags containing white crystals, so they made a record of the arrest of the offender red-handed.

During a search of Duc’s house, the police continued to discover and seize a total of 214.5 grams of methamphetamine. When Linh learned that her husband had been arrested, that same evening, she went to Tan Phu Ward Police Station to surrender and confess her crime.

Tran Minh Duc and his wife were sentenced for illegal drug trafficking.

Through investigation, the police determined that around June 2021, Duc regularly bought drugs from Ho Chi Minh City to hide at home. Then he divided them into many small packages to sell to others for profit. In October 2021, Duc asked Linh to stay at home to sell drugs to him, and Linh agreed.

From June 2021 to November 25, 2021, Duc sold drugs to 5 other people a total of 14 times, illegally profiting 6.75 million VND. From October 2021 to November 22, 2021, Linh sold drugs to 7 different people a total of 9 times, illegally profiting 4 million VND.
